Thanks Chromecat for the reply and information. Have written and had replied to by Rich Luhrs. He has told me that the Chris Cat molds went to American Offshore and a unknown guy in Oklahoma. Whereabouts of those molds are still unknown. The Shadow cat molds are still in New Jersey. Therefore, it is assumed that Jim Klymn made (or had made) the molds for his Awesome cat on his own. Whether his own design or a copied design of either the Chris and/or the Shadow. Would be interesting to compare all three hulls for their design differences. I have seen (posted in the archive area) the differences between the Chris and the Shadow.

Any information you wish to add here would be great. Just trying to get a complete history on my boat. Would greatly help in the set-up. Particularly since I am making many changes to my boat for the 2005 season. Richard

And something else Don, Before purchasing my 31 Awesome, I looked at a 31 AO a guy from Traverse City Michigan had. A pair of blown 540's too. Really should have taken a long drive to sea trial it. Oh well. Can't Monday morning quarterback it now.

ROTAX, this is off the topic but I noticed your name and was wondering if it was because you had a 440lc SkiDoo? And if so I have a complete short block for it if interested. Its brand new and still in the rotax shipping box. It goes for araound 1500 from a dealer. I'm just looking to clean out the garage so if interested make me a reasonable offer.

Chromecat is right on the molds. ED bought them from chris Cat. He told me the price and I thought It was high but chris craft needed to get rid of them. Triva for you guys. What was the name of the Boat company Ed had before AO.

It was Commander Boats. I bought one from him just before he sold it and started American Offshore. And then I bought an A/O in 97. Loved it. Just sold it in april. What's next Ed??? :D

Rotax,
The 3100 AO, 300 Chris Cat and 31 Awesome all have the same bottom. I have a Chris and have friend with AO and another with an Awesome...same everywere from rubrail down, all have slightly different stringers, engine hatches, firewalls and rear floor/seat location. The tops seem identical also from the console forward with the exception of the style of dash pannel. Bang for the buck these boats are hard to beat and if set up properly can run well into the 100's with decent power.
