I have plenty of time to figure it out and see what happens because we would not tear into the Apache until after this coming summer anyway. No hurry, no rush. Like I said, just feeling things out a bit.

Awesome Apache. How fast after the new power/ rerig?

Re: 45 Apache

It will run in the upper 80s with a light fuel load. With a full fuel load, 400 gallons between 4 tanks, it will run around 80. The fuel weight adds up quickly. I believe that a gallon of gas weighs somewhere between 6 and 8 pounds. So figure 400 gallons at 6 pounds and you have 2400 pounds of fuel weight. It makes a difference.

I worked on this boat and it was my favorite boat at the shop. This boat is INCREDIBLE. For that cash that boat should sell QUICK and i hope it doesn;t because i know how much you love that boat Will and how well you have taken care of it. Just fix up the cabin to your familys liking ....trust me it will be worth it.... you know what you have there it's ....priceless

Is this the boat that when it was put to twins they made the extra two man bolster area out of the space where the third motor went? I always liked that.

Yes, this is the boat. A total of 8 individual bolsters! You can leave the back two covered for a large sun pad or uncover them for extra seating. Here are a few pictures. The one with the rear two bolsters uncovered (white) was taken before I owned the boat, but the setup is still the same.

I remember seeing that thing for the first time when it was for sale last time (probably when you bought it). That's gotta be the sweetest way to fill in the room from the third motor I've ever seen. Love that boat! I say just put the cabin in.:D

Wow, compliments from both Lucy and Gail. Now that is something! I can't take any credit for the cockpit because it was like that when I got it. I did change some minor things in there, but the red and yellow upholstery work was already done. The exterior is another story though. I like the plain white look, but this is what I started with.

My classified ad only has a few days left so I dropped the asking price by $15K today to see what happens. I got bombarded with calls and e-mails when I first listed it and thought that it was gone at one point, but the buyer could not get the financing. All of the others just seem to be "tire kickers." I am still trying to see what the market value is for this boat, so maybe this will help. The ad expires on the 12th.

You have a great boat but Warpath stole some of your fire since it has incredible history.

In the future if a guy is trying to finance the boat then he probably isn't a buyer. The boat is 18 years old and not a lot of lenders want to put their paper on that kind of deal.

If I had the money I would buy your boat, Warpath and Lucky Strike to have the ultimate poker run fleet! :D

Hot Duck 02-09-2007 01:58 PM

I agree. We have the only 45, but Warpath is a true collector's item! I also agree about the financing, but this guy needed only 20K. This was after I gave him a substantially reduced price. I also had another person that said I would have a deposit "by the end of the week." I never heard from him again. If there is one thing that I have learned over the years about selling boats, it is that you cannot believe anybody until the money is in your hand.

I started all of this just to see where the true market value was on the boat. I wanted to see what kind of offers I would get. I am still not sure about the value, but it looks like I should go ahead and keep the boat and make the changes to it. I thought about buying a second performance boat that has what we want and keeping the Apache as is, but I already own 4 boats. Two are fishing boats and one is a hunting boat, so I need another boat like a hole in the head. Especially another performance boat. I had this Apache and a Gladiator at the same time and the upkeep was a pain in the a$$. That is a lot of cleaning and detailing! Anyhow, I am gonna let it ride for the last few days of the ad to see what happens.

Hot Duck 02-11-2007 08:23 PM

I got a call today from somebody that wants to know if I am interested in selling the boat without engines because they want to use their own. What is the market like right now for engines? If I consider this am I going to be stuck with a pair of engines sitting in the garage? I imagine that they would be tough to sell. Any ideas?

Ted G 02-11-2007 09:41 PM

Will, I think it would be very difficult to get your money back out of those engines. Built engines that cannot be test run are a tough sell. I would keep it together, the boat is almost perfect in setup right now.

Sacred Ground 02-11-2007 10:33 PM

Daddy Will-
I have tryed that trick years ago, very hard to sell used engines
Tommy from Chief told me used engines are worth $10,000 each, hope this helps you keep the Apache-get it !!!!

I can't tell you how many calls I've had where they're coming to see the boat next weekend, want to put a deposit it on it the next day, I'll call back tomorrow, etc...lots of tire kickers and a lot of BS'ers !!

funny, there sure are lots of used engines in the classifieds here for ALOT more $.
i'd pony up 10k for a used chief engine.

Sacred Ground 02-12-2007 09:32 AM

No,I did not say used Chief engines are worth $10,000
I said used engines are worth $10,000 as if you were to trade in or sell on the open market

Chief engines are in a league all there own-best on the market

Stormrider 02-12-2007 10:36 AM

Fine, but you still can't buy a decent used engine for $10k.
maybe a 496mag ho, and that don't count. sorry for sidetracking... i'm done.
and imo, you're better off selling w/ power.

cougarman 02-12-2007 11:28 AM

Does this one count ?

http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.com/page-14433.html

I'll but a set of Stellings with it for $15,000 :drink:

Hot Duck 02-12-2007 12:40 PM

It looks like the engines will be staying with the boat.

Jupiter Sunsation 02-13-2007 08:06 PM

For all of you Apache speculators out there, look in the back of the Dupont registry to see the Spirit of Apache 47 for sale at 1.5 million!

I think that makes the one of a kind 45 Apache Kid as great of a deal as 135K Warpath!

Sacred Ground 02-13-2007 09:30 PM

I agree-but don't tell "HOTDUCK" that-
I'll be the last man standing at the marina-

KEEP THE APACHE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what are you guys trying to say? You want me to keep the Apache? :p It looks like your wishes may come true. It seems that everybody is "just looking" and that the ones that "want it" just disappear. Crazy stuff! I had a guy this past week that was sitting on the fence and had called several times, so I decided to call his bluff to see if he would sh*t or get off the pot. We had never discussed numbers until this last call, but when he finally asked for the rock bottom price I offered the boat to him at $20K less than where it is listed now to see his reaction. He was excited and "ready to do a deal." I never heard back from him and he has not returned my call. That is probably good for me because if he took the deal I would have had to honor the offer. It was a gamble, but at least I know where he stands now. I don't know how the people in boat sales do this every day. I am going to let the ad continue, but for now it looks like Sacred Ground and Lynch Mob will be running the coast together and waking up the beach dwellers again this season! That is, unless the right person comes along. :D

Hot Duck 03-07-2007 02:08 AM
