Sadly it might point out something else too. NK

Do you guys think the boat would move if I cut another $20K off the asking price? I found a possible replacement with a full cabin, but will need 185-190 out of the Apache to get there. Any ideas?

Depends on how bad you want to move it. as everyone says it's a buyers market, and we are no different than anyone else as where we want to make as much on our boats as we can. If you have someone that has offered that amount and can prove it, then it may be worth it to let it go. It's a tough decision, i think about it all the time.

Me too. I don't know which way to go with this thing. One day I am keeping it and the next day I am going to let it go. I can't decide what to do. I love the boat, but some times it seems to me that it would be a shame to change it and make a full pleasure boat out of it. On the other hand it rides and handles extremely well and has plenty of room to add a cabin and expand the cockpit. Yes, no, yes, no, yes, no. I don't know. It seems that I change my mind daily. I just need some warm weather to get here so that I can go run it. That will make up my mind! At least until it gets cold again. :D

Anything you do with the boat will only make the boat more spectacular. I like seeing the changes some boats have gone through over the years (like Wild's F2 and yours/LS's F2 TS) While some will argue that changing a race boat to a pleasure boat is sacrilegious; who is racing these boats as is anymore anyhow? Most of the current competing race boats are totally new school, and nothing like the machine this one is. I'd say convert it; and go WHOLE HOG on the process, and make it a spectacular Poker Run boat that EVERYONE wants to lay their eyes, on, and lay some of the styling back to the original race boat theme.

I appreciate that and I will need it from time to time. I almost had to use you yesterday when Phil sent me a ton of pics of a Top Gun they just finished. A cabin, huge cockpit, Zuls, and over 100 mph on the first test run!

Cougarman

I'll bet it will do 80 in any water that I would WANT to do 80 in. :D There was a day when I would go out in any condition and beat the piss out of a boat and myself, but now I tend to pick my days. I like a nice rolling swell. I must be getting old.

If it makes you feel any better I have made a few calls this week about going through my engines and and bumping them to 1200hp. Nobody seems to want the boat so I figure that I will start the changes by increasing the horsepower. I want to be able to bust the 90mph mark no matter what fuel load I have. I don't know if 1200hp will do it or not, but I want to try it to see what happens. :D

Hot Duck 04-16-2007 11:54 PM

Even though the weather feels more like winter, the calendar says that spring is here. That means it's time to get ready for summer! I took the boat up to Bay Perfomance to get it spruced up a little bit before the nice weather gets here. They are painting the bow and stern rails, buffing out the top deck, painting the drives and tabs, replacing the fuel fills with new ones that don't require a key, installing flush fuel vents, installing new bilge blower vents and tackling a few other odds and ends while it is there. I'll keep you all posted.

Oh yea, the engines. I called a bunch of places about going through them, but it looks like it will take a while to do it so that is a project that will more than likely have to wait until after the summer. I want to make them fuel injected 1200s. It seems that it takes quite a bit of time to not only rebuild the engines, but to map out the computer stuff on the dyno so that the fuel injection works properly. Everybody said it would take 6-8 weeks to turn them around between the work load they already have and the time that each of my engines would take. That would mean waiting until the middle of June to have the boat ready. Of course, with the way the weather has been it may be June before it gets any warmer!

Two days in and the top deck is finished. Here are a few before and after pictures. The bow rail and some of the hardware pieces are missing in the after pictures. They are being powder coated and will be back in 10 days or so. The bow rail is 23' long so it should be fun to powder coat and bake. That's gotta be a big oven! Here is the top deck before and after.

Here are some of the stickers before and after. The stickers were faded and were simply replaced. You can really see the difference in the area around the stickers in these pictures.

The boat is all loaded up and ready for Jacksonville! I never posted them, so here are a few pictures of the work done by Bay Performance.

The bow rail was red, but it is now powder coated white. They also installed new fuel fills and flush fuel vents.
