All this drama will definitely poison this boat for a long time to come. Long after the fine points of the debate have faded from memory, all anyone will remember is that there was lots wrong with it, whether there is or not.

The seller has done himself no favors by continuing this debate.

Yes, there was alot of drama about this boat, but this boat is still what it is. The boat does not change just because of what people say.

Sorry, that you look at it that way,
but someone has to say something.

Steve_H 02-21-2008 09:45 PM

jeeez. its a fckn used boat and like ALL used boats it will have issues. so you buy it for a fair price, spend some money fixing the issues, use it for a few years and sell it to someone else who will also have to fix/repair chit when they break. its all about value. can the issues be fixed without taking a beating is the bottom line. not what someone says on a website. some of the best deals ive witnessed were boats that were "said" to have issues. one that i remember vividly was a cafe racer that was badmouthed on oso over and over again with a wet transom. the boat was bought dirt cheap and guess what. the transom was dry as a bone. this isnt rocket science. every buyer just needs to do his own due diligence.

I disagree. 1) I haven't heard any bad so far and 2) a serious buyer will dismiss all of this as rumors and nothing else. Once you step up and look at the product all the BS fades away. Good luck with the sale John.

Go-fast-pilot. You've looked at the boat, if any one wants your info they will PM you so maybe just let sleeping dogs lie and let the man sell his boat.

I dont think anybody is going to give you anything, I'm pretty sure their tired of hearing what you have to say. So again, get a life.

Yes I have to tell you again, since you don't listen, yes you are a hater. So its too bad you dont use your time in a positive way.

You need to get some help for yourself.

You are a sad and miserable person.

One minute you are hating on my boat, then the next minute your hating on me.

Make up your mind.

Hey all you guys that have been around a while (Chris) Is this anything like the famed Apache threads of old?? Just nonsence going on and on and on and on

delsol 02-25-2008 07:50 PM

biggest difference I see is that it is really only 2 people that can't seem to realize how bad this all reads!

Not even close. The old Apache threads were full of really knowledgeable people debating about the history and stories of the brand and the colorful personalities it attracted. That and the "better than xxxxxx brand", the "this would be faster but that would handle the big water..." and stuff like that. it oftened deteriorated into soap opera stuff but still interesting. Especially on those long, cold February nights.

This one is two schoolkids shouting unimaginative insults across their backyard fence. But... it's what we got.

Some of the best threads were back when some clown sold a guy an Apache trade name he didn't own and the guy who bought it spent a ton of his family's money hiring guys to spend it for him attempting to build an Apache that wasn't really anything like an Apache and had none of the original Apache people associated with the project then he ran from the police in his Lamborghini and then had to buy the car back from the police when they seized it and shortly thereafter he disappeared and all the money he spent and all the work he did evaporated and the guy who beat him in court for him wanting to make Apaches still doesn't make them even though he owns the name.

And stuff like that. A guy couldn't make $hit like this up.

And then there's "trow da' string"

cosmic12 02-25-2008 08:26 PM

thanks Chris, I figured as much as I have looked back at some of the good ones, I do love that old banter. This is like you say childish.

Interesting post from a newbie. Welcome to OSO...........I think.

Lets get back on track with the 28 Apache. I've got a 1990 was it built by B. Saccenti? Was it built when the feds owned the company? I have a brochure that says available in carbon fiber or kevlar. Where there any made with carbon fiber or kevlar or both like some 41's were? Does anybody have the true story to the history of the hull design? From what I can tell they started building them in 1987 through 1991 and a hand full were built from 1992-2005. O great ones, some history on the 28 apache would be greatly appreciated.

cosmic12 02-27-2008 01:30 PM

weren't the later ones built under a different name? And there were some 36s also from the same builder.

TexomaPowerboater 02-27-2008 01:36 PM

I think Eric Frodberg built one. The 28 apache custom with all the western graphics listed at $129K

Steve_H 02-27-2008 06:56 PM

the 93 i owned was built by Bobby. Eric and Bobby didnt form a partnership until the late 90's.

I just spoke to Bob Saccenti and if your boat hull number starts with APH, its was built by him.

( MY BOAT WAS NOT BUILT BY THE FEDS.)

MY BOAT WAS BUILT BY BOB SACCENTI, I GAVE HIM THE SERIAL NUMBER AND HE SAID HE IS THE ONE WHO BUILT THE BOAT. SO IF ANYONE WONDERING WHO BUILT MY BOAT, BEFORE RUMORS GET STARTED, YOU CAN CONTACT BOB.

Chris Sunkin 02-27-2008 08:09 PM

In case you hadn't noticed, we've moved past you and your boat. Consider this thread officially hijacked. It's yours no longer.
:)

For the record, it doesn't matter when your boat was built- an Apache is an Apache. Also, the Feds didn't build boats. The people who built them before, built them after. The only guy to build an Apache that wasn't an Apache was Thad Allen.

cosmic12 02-27-2008 08:16 PM

Just when ya thought it was over.////// So who built the 28 &36 commanchies?

I dont know where you got your information, but it does matter when my boat was built. The Feds ran Apache in Miami, Fl for 6 years. The hull numbers are different from when Bob Seccenti built them.

Uh huh. Bob Seccenti, right?

Tell us all more about the Feds building these boats. Did they have US Marshal's doing the layups and rigging?

You picked the wrong forum for this nonsense. Quit while you're ahead.
