28 Apache in classifieds
What do you guys know about this 28 Apache? Good or bad, why hasn't it sold?
|
This a cut and past from this thread>>>http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=175555
I can tell you right now those engines are not 700hp, do a search about a boat stolen...a 28.... and find out what the old owner Mike Leslie said.....(he said 550hp) those engines are pooched, they look like **** and the guy doesnt even have any idea what kind of hours they have on them....he didnt even pull them and put some nice hoses and throw some paint on them and clean them up before selling like I am sure most here would have done....boat was stolen and who knows what could have happened to the engines or drives internals when the guy stole it. He (thief) took off the props and it has cheap props now as well.... also the owner thinks the boat is worth every penny of his asking price. I would have bought it on Monday if the guy was more reasonable and understood what kind of work those engines need to make that boat a solid real nice one.. who knows about the hull....could have the knee cracks that are so common on these 28's and those are a couple grand to fix. Anybody seen this thing up close? The market will show this guy his mistake. I dont think anyone is going to touch that boat at 40k with those engines. |

I saw the ad has been changed and mentions 40hrs on the engines. Not sure if thats on a new engine or just the rebuild. IMO I think it looks like a great deal and if I was still in the market I would probobly buy it or atleast have a hard look. Due to the rumor mill I probobly would have the best of the best survey it (ed cozzi). |

I don't think he ever saw the boat. I'm sure some of it is true, but thats old info. The only important fact I have read about that boat here on OSO is that nobody has seen it lately. A lot can be done to a boat in just a year or two.

boat has had the Vin # changed, it was a theft recovery boat, bought at a auction, it belonged to a OSO member.

Apache Boat
I dont know where you got your information, but this boat still has the orginal Apache vin number.
"By U Boy"; Since you know so much about this boat, why dont you ask Mike Leslie who he got to take the boat from the boat storage in Buford, GA. The Hall County Sheriff's Department would like to know. And ask him where are the props, the stereo system and the ship to shore radio that was all taken, that was the only thing wrong with this boat when I bought it. :evilb: |

Please tell us more about your boat. What kind of speed are you getting and how much HP. I've got 460Hp 454's and she'll do 76. |
In your statement you say that the Buford County Sheriffs would like to know what Mr Leslie, did with certian items after the boat was taken from the storage compund? Why was it taken from the compound? It sound like a theft recovery to me?????

Since you own the boat why don't you give us the scoop on it. I like the boat and would like to get the truth. |
Boat needs some work still. Saw it a couple of weeks ago

What type of work. I noticed in the pics at the top corner of the fairing on the driverside it looks like it has some stress cracks in the gell.

I wouldn't worry too much about those cracks. They are on my boat too epecially around the anchor hatch and fairing. I wouldn't really call them stress cracks because they dont go down the length of the hull sides. The survey I had also did not refer to them as stress cracks, my surveyor said they are just cosmetic and I agree. I wouldn't worry about it unless its a vertical crack that stops at the trim. I think it has more to do with the paint breaking down over time rather than the structural integrity of the boat. I talked with the owner of a custom paint shop and he said that some of the more highend paint jobs use imron, which is just not a very durable paint especially over long periods of time. I do plan on having the deck resurfaced and painted white, but not in the budget for this year.
Hows the boat coming along? You ready for summer or what:D |
as far as the post I made in the other thread, I am pretty sure everything in it was accurate as far as what the current owner told me and my own research on the boat.
Not here to piss anyone off and if you think anything I said was untrue then by all means correct me. I didnt see this boat but I have looked at 4 other 28's in the past 6 months and done survey's on two of them and I made a personal decision that this boat was not worth the 40k asking price at the time that the owner said he would absolutely not budge on. Also if those engines arent pooched and dont look like **** and are actually 700hp why does the listing not even have a picture of them anymore? Why at the time I called and in the old listing did the owner not have any idea what kind of hours they had on them and now a number has been put up? Again not trying to piss anyone off but at the time I was trying to be realistic and give anyone else out there who was attempting to buy this boat my OPINION (and I am not an expert, never claimed to be and never claimed to have seen the boat). Didnt mean to stir the pot any and I have deleted the old post before anyone gets their panties in a knot. Cheers guys, Good luck with your searching. :party-smiley-004: |
Hell ya I'm ready for summer. Boat sits two hours away and I've been too busy to start tinkering with it.

Is that where your honeymoon is? Nothing better to start the summer off than a good honeymoon? Mines in May, strategically timed to get back for Labor day weekend.

I think it is awesome you share your thoughts- someone interested can take them or leave them. Good job posting what you think vs fear of being flamed. |
The home work came from me, so if someone want to yell at someone about that Apache its me, its not Adams fault. Adam is a good guy trying to find a great boat, if was not for Andy E-mailing me About my boat being on Ebay, I would still be looking, I got lucky with my Apache, hope Adam finds a good one:D

Apache
First I want to say to all the members of OSO, I am sorry if I have said anything offensive to anybody, especially "By U Boy"
This is what I know about the boat, I have owned it for about two years, I purchased it from a dealer here in Ga. Mr.Leslie had something to do with the boat being taken, and hid the boat in Savannah, GA until the insurance paid him off. It was a large sum according to the insurance company. When they found the boat, it was still on the trailer. The only damage was the stereo system was missing and the Ship-to-Shore radio and the props. From what I have heard, he has the props at his house for sale. I have spoke to Tracy Grimes, who rebuilt the engines, and he gave me the bill sheet on the engines and this information off of it, they are Twin 496 Tall Block Chev. Boat Engines, with 550 hp. And they have 850 King Demon Carborators. with Twister Hyd. Roller Cams. Edleblock performance manifolds. One inch hole spacer, ignition type MSD Mag. Pick-up 6-AL box. Idle Air bleeds .063. H/Speed Bleeds. The boat has the original Apache Vin Number, it does not have another Vin. I have registered the boat in my name for the 2008 year, I had no problem registering the boat. I have spent arpund 15,000 dollars on this boat. If someone is serious about buying this boat, then they are more than welcome to call me at (404)391-1174. And I will be glad to show them the boat. I do not know everything about boats, I am sure that someone else will find something wrong with the boat. Also, "Go Fast Pilot" is a young kid, who doesn't know much about boats in general. |

Sounds like the boat has more of a storied past then I thought??????????? Good luck to John and anyone who buys it.
|
Hey John, Dont send me private messages about your boat Vin #, I dont app. it, you know what you have and what you bought at auction. Good luck with your sale, but I dont care so dont send me any nasty messages, its not proper.
|
Apache
If you don't want me to send you messages then you need to quit posting false information about this boat. I did not buy this boat at an auction, I bought it from dealer in GA. If thats any of your business, so stop putting false information on OSO.
P.S I know you have better things to do. So stop the immature drama. If you want to talk to me call, don't run your mouth. 404-391-1174 John If someone wants to buy my boat it is fine, if they dont thats fine too. Everyone talking about this boat has never even seen the boat amd does not have any idea what they are talking about. |
Thats fine John, good luck with your sale, I am not running my mouth, I dont know enuff about your boat to do that( I have never seen it in person), but I have spoken with you over the phone about it, you have no Idea what you own, or any info about it. I wish you the best of luck with the selling the boat you bought.
|
ok, that is fine, just drop the topic of my boat. There is more important things for you to do, but like I said, you don't know anything about this boat, if you read what I posted earlier, it said everything, the truth, about the boat that I know of as of now.
So find something else to gossip about. |
hey John I dont gossip, good luck with selling your boat, I know Adam will buy it at the right price, we have talked about it before, maybe you should E-mail him about your boat and give him a great price, he will buy it. Good luck John:cool-smiley-011:
|
Ok, thats fine, if he's one of the people that is down-grading this boat, I rather not sell it to him. Doesn't matter what everybody says about this boat, if someone comes and looks at the boat and that is what they want they are welcome to buy it.
John |
Hey John, you have been honest, your boat is what it is and I hope you sell it, good luck with it, I hope you sell it to someone who will restore it and give it a good home. Give Adam a chance and if the money is right sell it to him, who cares what someone says, money talks, everything else doesnt really matter.
|
ok, please just drop the issue. If someone wants to buy it they know how to contact me.
|
Its ok to slam someone just not his boat
|
"Go Fast Pilot"
Whenever you want to slam someone just call me 404-391-1174 |
You insulted me not the other way around.
|
represent the boat as it should be and you may get some interest but the way you are going about this is throwing up red flags.
just my .02 but im fu*kin loaded so how carfes. |
"Go Slow Pilot"
You know my phone number waiting for you to call "By U Boy" Like I told you before, if someone wants to buy the boat they have the number and dont need your .02. |
good talking to you John.
call me with the engine builder info so we can maybe wrap this up. 816-525-6167 |
Steve I left the number for you on your answering machine.
Thanks, John |
