Oh ya Earl, I guess I should start a thread about how my boat only ran for 10 hours and was sold to me by an OSO member who said it was a great boat in great shape. I guess I know how to deal with my own problems. Piss off beaker.

WMF 07-23-2008 11:12 PM

My overheat problem was caused by 2 bad sea water pumps and clogged oil cooler's, I recivedmy new sea water pumps today and flushed out my oil cooler's, I will have it back on the water this weekend!!!!! Hey Andy don't tmind the B.S. Start a thread about you project, it might help out some other board members!!!!!

Andy did you figure out what went wrong with the motor that let go? Did you leak down those motors when you bought it from that guy?

Who pissed in your cornflakes?

A guy is so happy about fullfilling a dream to have a cool boat and has a motor go in the first ten hours and you rub it in? All over a post where he may have been blunt but wasnt 'trying' to be an *******? Thats just not very nice dude.

Bill the boat looks wicked in those pictures. The paintwork you did seems to have turned out beautiful.

TexomaPowerboater 07-24-2008 05:22 PM

Thanks ar15meister. Pretty odd post for someone who is preaching Karma.

The official diagnosis...........A valve came loose and bounced around till the engine locked up. We may be able to rebuild and get back on the water next season. Plenty of time to redo the bilge........

If the previous owners are reading - I planned for this to happen, it didn't suprise me that this did happen. I was happy to get 10 hours out of her for the price I paid. No regrets.

WMF 07-24-2008 07:53 PM

Hey LOOK at that Brave in the Classifieds.

WOW.

Called Gun Smoke, now thats nice.

WMF 07-25-2008 09:24 PM

A new powerboat magazine just did a pice on Gun Smoke, it is a great looking Apache 28, but it is alittle over the top for me!!, I installed the new sea water pumps tonight, it flows water now!!!!!, I will have some GPS speed #'s this weekend.

WMF 07-27-2008 12:14 AM

Well Andy, I guess I am in the same boat as you, my motors went up tonight on my test run, They dont overheat anymore!!!!, Right motor have a rod nock, and left motor broke the timing chain, I guess I am getting new motors??

007joe 07-27-2008 10:24 AM

brave the boat look's great, sorry to hear about the motors

WMF 07-27-2008 03:58 PM

I dont know if I am going to sell it, put motors in or buy another boat??

TexomaPowerboater 07-28-2008 08:43 AM

Man that sucks. Really sorry to hear that Bill, I can't imagine your frustration. These big HP engines are just not worth it to me. Sounds like you may be able to fix them. Did you ever get it out in the rough before the motors blew? My current plan is to sit on the boat for 3-5 years and put in some brand new 496HO's......with extended warranty. She won't see 80, but atleast she will see water. That should give me a ton of time to slowly restore the boat. Hell, that will give me enough time to have a kid, and grow-up big enough to ride with me, which is exactly whats going to happen.

WMF 07-28-2008 10:34 PM

I just listed her in the classifieds

Ebay it. That'll tell you what it's really worth.

Problem is, end-of-season and broken, that number will probably make you sick to your stomach.

WMF 08-16-2008 03:10 PM

I might just try that Chris, maybe I will put it up on sunday

NKissau 08-21-2008 12:49 PM

bigboat28 09-01-2008 08:47 PM

Nice:cool-smiley-027:

WMF 09-02-2008 09:49 PM

It will be nice when they are installed!!!!, hey what do you think top speed will be with those 800 HP motors in it??? I know the Apache 28 Bad Medicine ran over 100 mph with 650 HP per side!!!

Ike 09-03-2008 06:42 AM

Bill, Bad Medicine ran 97mph with N/A 800's, can't wait to see what yours runs!

Chris Sunkin 09-03-2008 06:59 AM

Please be cautious. Even though the Apache 28 is hefty and has alot of bottom, 100 mph in a short boat- any short boat- can get twitchy. Ease up past 80 slowly. Charging to 100 could be full of surprises. Take your time, get the feel of the boat at those speeds and experiment with different steering, drive and tab inputs and get a sense for what it's going to do.

And for Christ's sake, don't blow them up on the first run! ;)

Do you have billet caps and showers on those Bravos? 800 is alot of ponies for those skinny little guys.
