Wow, that sux, but i'm sure you'll pull it off.
But all this is not shocking and nothing new, as most guys run into this situation. Me included. As I've said to andy... if it ain't broke, don't fix it. As someone said recently on this site... "The purchase price is just one piece of the equation. It's a much more active relationship with a boat. When you see a beautiful old boat out on the water doing 70, someone's been spending some money." |
Btw, a nice pair of 496HOs would be a decent package.
They should get you into the 70s w/ 5yr warranty. |

Well I found out who built the motors in my boat, They were built and tuned by C & G Marine in N Miami FL. Question is are they still in business? I would like to find out some more about the motors.

John I am just going to run them, I found my motor noise last night, a loose Roller rocker!!, I feel stupid, I am going to clean up the head, and install 2 piece valve covers, but I am going to run them, I did a bunch of thing to the boat today, I want to have it ready for the O.C. Boat race. The compression and leak down test came back great, it is nice to know what kind of motors they are!!

I just ran accross this thread- nice job on your Apache!! I know how you feel- after you spend tons of $$ and time on something and something else goes wrong the "for sale" siren starts going off in your head!! Finish it up and run it a while- the way gas is going I think our boats might be a little hard to sell for a while:D
Anyways- very nice work- Scott |

|
Looks good Bill! Getting closer..
|
Went out in some sustained 25mph winds with 40mph gusts. Definitely the biggest water I've hit so far with the apache. Clearly the boat is stronger than I am......... I feel like I got stomped by a bunch of mexicans...........and don't ask me how I know. Maybe 5's with the occasional 6. Boat handled great. At slow speeds it was a tank. At speed it was all I could do to keep my droors at 50mph. Hopefully a little more seat time and I can get more comfortable working the throttles. I feel like this boat could have handled a lot more with the proper training and/or experience. Tons of respect for the offshore racers.
