Not sure what your getting at, but I don't get to spend other peoples money. I paid good money to have it towed from Maryland. Bought a new z71 to tow it 1 mile from storage to the ramp.......with trailer brakes that work. IMO the truck is more than capable of that.
What you do with your money is your own business. I only hope you don't end up going through what Bill and I have.

I have noticed on threads, including the one about my boat, that you are quite free with advice on what is the "right way to do it" and how much it would cost.
I could go pull your quotes, but I think that you and others know what I mean. I am sure that it isn't necessary.
You were quite liberal with your opinion that it would cost $30,000 to repower my boat. I refer to that as "spending other people's money." I said it about my friend Chris, too. He "spent my money" all the way home from MD.
I wasn't starting a fight with him either.
You said "anything worth doing is worth doing right."
I thought that it was ironic that when it came time to talk about towing that you would mention that you tow a 9,000 pound package with a half ton truck. Coming from the advocate of "doing things right."
Your opinion regarding the capabilities of your truck may well be better informed than the manufacturer. But if you have a problem... the legal system will probably go with GMs opinion regarding the capacity.
I didn't expect you to get upset about it. But I was in my 20s once, so I understand. Although usually 2 smilies and a drink smilie is a way to tip someone off that you are not attacking them.
Best of luck with your boat.

You may need to try more than one medicine to find the treatment that works best for you. Many medicines are available over-the-counter, but others require a doctor's prescription. Medicines that can be prescribed include diuretics, antidepressants and birth control pills. Other medicines for PMS are currently being studied."

"There is no cure for PMS, but eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and taking medicine may help. Your doctor will talk to you about whether you need to change your diet and exercise habits. He or she may also prescribe medicine for you, depending on what your symptoms are and how severe.

I have no problems with my towing package for as far as I go with it. It sounds to me like you guys were the ones doing the risky towing. With all the towing lectures Chris spews out I'm suprised he didn't imediately pull over, chit his pants, and ask for a tow truck after he figured out the trailer brakes weren't working. Isn't it illegal to tow a load that size without working brakes. Shame on you Chris.
You've been hanging around Chris way too long
. There I got my smiles in.

. There I got my smiles in.Guys like Chris don't chit their pants and they don't ask for much. I am glad to call a frigging legend like Chris a friend.
Imagine... most guys have to pay to have their boat hauled... I was lucky to have Sunkin do it. Besides, he is a grown man. You act as if he lives at home with his parents or something. He has been doing this longer than you have been peeing standing up.
Now let's look at your posts.
Are you going to try and fix the engines? You'll end up spending $5K/engine easy, assuming the exhaust and heads don't need to be replaced. Then you'll have a salty rebuilt 4-500hp 454......which may be good for 100-200hrs if your lucky. My quote was closer to $8K/engine with new heads, if you need new exhaust your looking at 10-12K/engine. I can buy new for $10K full dress. I would cut your loses short and replace with new full dress engines. You will save money in the long run. Not trying to sell a boat here, but I am going through the same thing. That saltwater is hell on equipment, I will end up replacing everything on the back end of this boat. Probobly why the last two owners let that boat go for so cheap.
I found stock 496's for $10K each from govictorymarine. $15K each straight from Merc. Most reliable 600Hp motors I priced were $20-30K each. If I buy straight from Merc, which is the way I'm leaning, it will cost upwards of $30K+ to repower with stock 425HP motors.......about what i paid for the boat back in December.
I was going to go that route, but the heads are alluminum and are too corroded, per my mechanic they need to be replaced. The intake manifolds are pretty corroded as well. I can't justify putting that kind of money into that old set up because I'll never get any of it back. I could rebuild, maybe get another 1-200hrs out of them (no gaurantee) and then 2-5 years later I'd be right back in the same "boat." Effectively merely delaying the purchase of new engines. Doesn't take much research on OSO to read about so many other rebuilds that go bad after 20-30 hours. Hell, they've already been rebuilt once. On the other hand I could buy new 496's with a solid warranty, should last 1000hrs the way I drive. As little as I drive that setup would last me 20-30 years and be a very attractive resale down the road. If there's anything worth doing its worth doing right.

Now....
If you would like to try again Andy... I am open. No sense in 2 brave owners being in conflict. You over-reacted to a fairly light jab... which you earned. Not a big deal at all. Not something that we couldn't have gotten past. You didn't get what I meant by "spending other people's money" and you got defensive.
We can still get past it. But not if you don't lower your testosterone level a bit and accept that you are a fire-pizzer.
I know guys who act like that.... but they do steroids.
It is up to you. I am reaching out with my hand. You either accept it or you don't. You simply are not on my radar as someone I need to be fighting with.
