Hey I think that is my cooler!!!! : )
|
When?
The boating season is already half over. |
Pete,
The boat will not be on the water this year again. We just got the motors back 3 weeks ago. Steve doesn't have access to his computer right now, but I'm sure he'd love to talk to you. Let me know if you need his number. Krista |

Too bad the boat won't be in the water this year. Beautiful boat and congratulations. I remember when it was on the cover of the Apache brochure.

It's a disappointment, but unfortunately we didn't get the motors back in time to put the boat together for the run in Ohio or for the Boyne thunder run, and we are living in South Carolina now so it's a little bit over kill for Lake Hartwell and like Pete said since the season is already half over, she's going to have to sit out yet another season.
Krista |
South Carolina?
So you're not in Grand Haven any more? Where is the boat? Will you keep it? I WANT A RIDE!:cool: |
All good things take time and unfortunately the engines needed a bunch of upgrades and sorting out . Other things still need addressed with the fuel delivery in the boat. It's better to do it right, like Steve did then throw away a bunch of LONG hours and money out the window just to do it all over again. The engines still have a ton of potential , seeing how they made just under 1000 HP with old 850 Holley carbs!! She's gonna be bad azz!:drink::cool:
|
I'm very sad to hear this. I was so looking forward to seeing you guys in Ohio this year for the weiner roast. But when that didn't happen I was still hoping you would get the engine back in time to run the boat this year.

"All good things take time " In this case Dean let's not confuse taking time to do it right, and taking your time.
|
Last I talked to Steve, I thought he said he was looking for a big Center Console. I just thought it was the Booze talking.....

Why does it take so long to build a pair of engines, looks like over a year to me. That would make me want to sell my boat too!!! Hope Steve can get the passion back!

After one year, I wouldn't let this engine builder change my oil. Thats just me, I'm a demanding little jerk. |

I wouldn't say anyone is demanding for wanting their motors back loooooooooong before a year is up. But that's just me and being a woman, according to some, I may not know what I'm talking about. :party-smiley-004:

Carl,
Don't sell youself short, your a tremendous jerk. But that has nothing to do with wanting a set of motors tuned around in a reasonable time. Ha ha ha ha Warhawk going to be on the water this weekend? Or are you coming North for a slow and easy ride in the woodie? SKRAMER, Yup, way out of line. And for the record it was 16 months not 12. |

The list is too long for me to begin........why so long. For one I suppose I should start with why would an engine builder put connecting rods back in an engine after they are in a blow up and have pepper marks all over them. We did over $4500.00 worth of labor and extras for Steve to help save him money and do the job correctly. There are 3 sides to every story and it's unfortunate some people have blinders on and can't see or appreciate a good job!! I want to see this thing run more than anyone out there!! I think it will shock ya!! I really hope she goes back together, I even offered to go up and help.
|
BOTTOM LINE........steve aint and hasnt been boating for awhile....no matter who is at fault the clock is ticking.......be it rolex or timex time is moving and the boat aint.....the answer is......... spare power from the propnut to the waterpump....no rush at rebuild time.....300 hours works for me...then change power....or you are at the mercy of whomever.....this aint ribble...50 years exp...cya....
|
I have seen the motors and they look bad azz.

"The list is too long for me to begin........why so long." Even if that list starts with mining the raw materials from the ground with hand tools for all the new parts and transporting it to the foundry with a horse drawn wagon for forging, 16 months is still BS. Let's stick with your question format. How about this one? Why would an engine builder disassemble a set of motors with connecting rods that had "pepper marks all over them" and put them on the shelf and wait until the assembly process to determine they needed to be replaced, stalling the build for 3 months? Anybody.....Anybody? Bueller..... Bueller? "We did over $4500.00 worth of labor and extras for Steve " I can't speak for Steve, but if I'm given the option of 1) getting $4500 of free labor and extras on a build and sitting out two seasons or 2) paying the $4500 and getting my motors when they were promised, I'm going for door number 2!! "it's unfortunate some people have blinders on and can't see or appreciate a good job!! " Blinders? Nope, no blinders here. We just understand what it takes to do a good job and have seen it done before with other builders. What we don't appreciate is someone pissing on our head and telling us it's raining. |
