Thanks,
Scottie - you did one hell of a job on your resto. Turned out really good. I like the black paint - gives it a very modern look. WMF - congrats on your new cig. I really like those 30ft mystiques. I hope you have a trouble free summer this year, lord knows you've earned it. |
Andy, your bilge is shining like a diamond in a goats A$$. good job my friend. If you need any help just give me a call and I will go to town and try to find you some. VV

What mods are you doing? Exhaust?
Anybody wanna guess hp/torque numbers on the new 502's? I'm going to guess 460hp, 550lbs |
I have several things planned!! I am going to start a thread in the cig section about my boat, like I did with the Apache!

Heck, the two boats will be within 400 horsepower of each other. Should be fair. :D

The old engines were old Mark IV Merc 454 365hp mags that were bored .030 and upgraded with alluminum heads. That setup put out 460hp on the dyno.
We went with a NEW Gen VI 502 415hp Marine long block with cast iron heads, used the old: 750 holley's, stainless marine manfiolds, valve covers, power steering pump, thunderbolt ignition, and alternators. Everything else is new - merc sea water pumps, merc mechanical fuel pump, flywheels, Merlin dual plane intake, Teague 3X18 oil cooler & oil lines, power steering cooler, and I'm sure a few others I can't remember. All said and done it will probobly make the same horsepower numbers, maybe a little more torque. Big thanks to Txhawk; he did pretty much all the building and planning. I helped were I could and just tried to learn as much as possible. |
So what'd it end up costing you in the end per engine?
|
lookin good Andy:evilb:

CONGRATS,,,But why would u not run the boat ???
Wify can stay home with the BABY and we go and have FUN !!!!:party-smiley-004::eek: I'll run the boat just not as much. Not a safe boat at speed with a baby, and not much fun to drive it slow. I'll just have to resort to short trips instead of staying gone all day. Ain't like it's the ocean. I can get just about anywhere in less than 30 minutes and some of the best beaches on the lake are in my front yard and backyard. |
I had my 10 month old out on my old 24, buzzing at 45-50mph.
The lull of the SM exhaust put him right to sleep. awwwwww... |
Congrats Andy!!!:drink: My son will be seven in June, it changes everything when you have a baby!!

ok, within 420. :) Congrats on the baby Andy. |
taking a baby boating is no problem . they fall asleep instently when you fire it up . we had a open engine Taylor jet boat when our doughter was born . after a year we up graded to a Baja force 220 cuddy and then a faster 25 foot switzer w/ 540 ci /600 hp . kids love boating when they stay awake . always take the kids with you . familys that play together stay together . Tim:kiss:

Thanks Tim, I just thought it might be a little dangerous for the little guy/girl whichever it may be, but seeing your point.......I'll just keep it slow for one year.
Boating has always been a family event for us. Been boating since I could remember. Took my first wheel at 6. No power steering on a 28ft pontoon - I felt like the king of the world. Parents used to try and ditch us at night so they could go skinny dipping. I threw a huge fit cause I didn't want to get left on the shore. My folks just threw a towel over my head and carried on.:drink: |
I used to take my 2 girls when they were babies first in a 25 Checkmate and then in the 28 Pantera. I would just take their car seats and all. They always went to sleep. To this day my 10 year old falls asleep and she does it sitting up. LOL

I agree, get the kid on the boat!
Last summer my kid was about 6 months old, we went boating every weekend.. I kept the speed down to around 45-50 mph and we went out into the bay/river on most occaisions and saving the ocean for when she's a little bigger. I haven't had her out on the Apache this year but did have her out on the bayliner last weekend and she still loves it. Now that she's older she likes the bopping around in the waves so maybe we can get an ocean run in on the Apache this summer....fingers crossed...have to take baby steps! PS, they love it! Mine slept most of the time in the beginning and by the end of the summer she was standing up in the back seat and looking out the side of the boat watching the waves go by. It's great, they love it, you love it and you're all together as a family, can't get much better than that!!! |
Hi Frank..going For The Flush.....5 El Indio Posts In A Row.

We got the engines dyno'd and tuned at Derebery marine. I was very impressed with how they handled everything. Engines did great!. No crazy hp numbers, but if you've been following the thread you'd of known that wasn't what I was looking for.
We put on an all new oil system, new plug wires, new starters, new intake manifold, new sea water pump, new power steering cooler, new oil coolers. Also picked up new blower & hoses, new bilge pumps & hoses, new drive oil reservoir's & hose kits, new battery boxes (red), new rigging hose clamps. Only thing left to do on the rigging is bilge pumps and blower. Hopefully finish that out this weekend. dyno sheets |
