MM x-boat ran mid 90's with 800SC's but it only weighs in at 8500# full of fuel !!!!!!!

the Phantom was a 30' Will Smith enclosed canopy - race layup.

I'm stuck on speed but love the classic line of this 41' - maybe 85mph with sensible Sterlings is the way to go.

I have seen Andy's boat in person and been in it.
As far as speed goes if that is your primary concern I wouldn't by an Apache (get a ts gun with 700's and nxt's and go 100mph). It is like the guy that buys a a restored GTO vs a brand new corvette (totally different animals). If you like old school and the history then this is a cool pleasure 41' It ran low 90's with the motors that Andy built and put in it. Here is a clip from the shootout last year in flat water. I was going 65-67mph and he is obviously going a good 20mph faster than me and he was taking it easy because he was still breaking the mills in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTaTDO1PAF0 It is my understanding that when it was built Andy's boat was Jack Kramers personal boat (Ben's Father). I remember I commented to Andy when I was sitting in the cabin "if only these walls could talk LOL.." My advice is determine what it is you truely want and if a pleasure 41' is it then go take a look. I think you are on the right track with the reliable sterling power. Here is another clip when it is a little bumpy. In the snot there is something to be said about running along at 75-85mph and not spilling your beverage because there is always going to be someone faster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9CdG...eature=related |
