WOW for flat water tht thing is moving. Like Doc said look at hte bow. You would think its coming off a 2 ft swell.

I agree. I lose about 3 mpg in glass water :( I like 2 foot swells
I plan on trying out some 28 labbed prop in my 29OL with HO's

Doc, do you know what part of TN it was delivered to? A customer or dealer?

If I understood right it was the dealer up near Chattanooga on the river.

The first comments I heard lead me to believe it is too much power for the hull. Got very loose above 94- 95 MPH, and was a little scary from what I was told.

I can only imagine how that thing accelerates!

My 30 OL has the HO's and I'm running labbed 28's tuned up to 29" I had the props done at the " prop shop" in Lake HAvasu. The dealer did on water testing and he stated to me that he saw a strong 81 speedo at 4900 RPM's, this is with 3 adults and 5/8 tank of fuel. But when I used it all I could et was 76MPH at 4,600 RPM's. My trim only up to 3 on the gauge. Any higher and the boat chine walks badly! I tried addind 400 plus lbs. to the bow and what a difference. I was able to trim up to 7-8 and I hit 76-78MPH at 4,800 RPM"s. Now if I can run minus the 400 lbs lighter I might be able to hit the 81. The only problem is I get alot of chine walk above 75MPH and with any positive trim. I need to find a way to keep the bow down at positive trim settings. I just wonder how the "prop shop" did it with all the chine walking.

I dont think you will be that high on hp. Bob Lloyd with Full Throttle Marine did that exact package, Raylar with CMI's on a 496. On the Propshaft dyno it made 492hp.

I over trimed the first 30 we drove bad and was surprised by the chine walk.

The boat simply does not need a lot of trim.

Keep the bow weight low, and do not over trim for maximum speed.

I'm not sure what the max recommended RPM is for the 496 HO, but you definately need to get your RPM's up. I would try smaller props.

The recomended RPM for the HO's is 4,800 - 5,000 RPM's. I agree as the boat is very trim sensitive.The only problem those props are deep in the water. I wonder putting 2" smaller lowers will help or take some cup or rake out of the props.

I have mags that are getting 77-78 speedo with my drives at 2-3 and my k-planes all the way up with 28 pitch props on my 2004 30 OL. This was at the dealer with 3 adults and a full tank of fuel at 4750 RPM's. I would think you're in the ball park once you trim up your tabs an keep your drives down.

Is that a gps speedo? What's your weather like there (outside temps)?

My results are with the tabs all the way up! I need to bring my drives up to bring up the RPM's. I can only run at full throotle safely at Trim set a 2-3 and tabs 7-8. But I only get 4,600 RPM"s at 75 MPH I tried the opposite and with my grive up to 6-7 and tabs about 3-4 I get 4,900 RPM's at 76MPH. With the tabs down you can actually feel the boat fight the drag from the tabs. The best run I got was with 5 adults and 400 plus pounds in the bow. I had my trim up to 7 and tabs all the way up and I hit 76MPH at 4,800 RPM"s. I know if i subtracrted all the weight I would be able to see that 81 MPH that the "prop shop " saw! But the boat is very squirrly with positive trim.
