Rev limiter at 5750 RPM. I just got off the phone with Mark and he is working on some 572's with the 5 liter Whipple and they are making a stupid amount of Horsepower. Yeah my little 540's are nothing compared to those monsters. |
Ok........92.44;)

The 32's will get you to 90 or a little better. You will need some bigger wheels. Awsome job on you refit, hope it does all you want. I estimate you will be on the limiters @ less than 92
|
Doc- the fog never lifted on LKN today. I'm going to try to make it out sometime after 1 if the weather coopereates on Friday. Where do you put in at? I'll be coming out of WestPort.
Good luck X- |
I'm not far from westport, north side of ramsey creek by the r2 marker.
If I'm caught up on work, I'll swing out for a little while. You guys will be out on the fat part of the lake main channel? let me know. If I don't make it out, I'll be listening for the girls singing. |

Good luck X- I burned the midnight oil last night and have been at the office since 6AM this morning. I'm working hard to make this happen. Yeah the fog was terrible yesterday. Jeff called from SC and it was SUNNY and 75 down there. I'm shooting to be at Queens around 1PM today as long as the weather holds and nothing stupid happens at the office. The wife in getting the lnes, fenders, anchor, vests and other necessary safety items together this morning. The boat is still hooked to the truck and all I have to do is put some gasoline in. Hope to see you out there. |

Weather Update
Friday 10:30 AM Warm and in the high 50's Fog is lifting but still very overcast Wind is picking up and expected to be 15 to 25 MPH today Right now we are still on target to splash and the wife is even excited! |
Have a great time Dock......in the 60's here today....
|
It's a balmy 63. but feels warmer. Supposed to be near 70 peak.
feels nice minus the gail force winds. I've got a lot of work to do. Doubt if I'll get out. If I dont see you, Good luck and keep us posted! |
Doc,
Hey the 1/2" of ice that was on the trees this AM in Ohio is melting now. Sounds like the weather in NC is good enough to go today. don't worry too much about getting top speed today, because after running it long enough to warm everything up, you will be frozen. Post some running shots as Christmas presents for everyone !!! XT:cool: |

Wow. I don't miss the ice since we moved here.
It has been pretty cold here so far this season. Today is a nice break, except the wind is insane. There's whitecaps in our cove which rarely happens. |
Well we went to the lake today.
Shannon I got your voice mail but we were trying to load and I had my hands full. I'm glad you did not head out it was not a nice weather day even with the warm temps. Man that wind was brutal. I don't remember ever seeing LKN that rough brfore. It compared to those lakes Jason Smith goes out on! I backed the trailer in the water and let the engines run about 15 minutes and spoke woth Mark Boos once before heading out. The wife was excited but once we got there and she got a good taste of the 25 MPH winds she decided to stay in the truck and keep the trailer in the water for me. I idled out of Queens almost to the main channel and all looked good so I pushed the throttles forward and the boat felt MUCH lighter than before with the added horsepower. She came up on plane very easy and quick and I cruised to the 150 bridge at 3500 RPM. I came off plane and raised the hatch and all was good. We still have a water leak on the sea strainer but Mark gave me a good idea on how to cure that. I came back on plane heading south and as I went by the inlet to Queens the wife got a good look and she said it sounded "Wicked Nasty". The engines are AWESOME! The drives did every thing they were suppose to do. I did as Dick Tryce likes and came on plane a short time and then off and back on again to try and let everything seat n the drives. The drives shift very easy and the motors idle so smooth it is not funny. They do not even know you shift the drives in gear and out. The 32 pitch props feel real good. At 3200 RPM I am out of vacumn and at zero boost on the gauges. I NEVER ran them over 4000 RPM today. At 4000 RPM I was just seeing the slightest boost of 1 to 2 PSI. The boat just feels awesome with the added horsepower. It feels much lighter and more nimble than I remember. It had so much throttle left that I can only imagine what she will do. I was the only one out there, it was extremely windy and I could not afford to break anything and get into trouble today. There are water leaks to deal with on the strainers, the battery on the GPS speedo is dead and I have no readings on the water pressure gauges. These are all very minor and easy to fix before spring. I spoke with Mark right after we got her back on the trailer and he is very pleased with what I reported and I am extremely pleased with the way the engines ran. It was a lot to take in and being my myself I was overly cautious. Don't slam me too bad but I never got to listen to the ladies scream today. I think I was too worried about getting her safely back on the trailer and I am VERY thankful that neither engine died while attemping to drive back on the trailer or I would have been in trouble fast. I have to get off here and head back to the office. Just wanted to give you all an update and tell you that we are very pleased with this setup and look forward to getting her dialed in early spring. I think I will definately leave the mufflers off. |
:ernaehrung004:
Thats awesome !!!! Glad all went well |
Congrats! Now the fun really begins!

Dock
Just an FYI The blowers don't really scream until about 4500 rpm :) Isn't it nice how fast that big boat planes out now. Torque is a cool thing. Smitty |

Well I just learned that the wife shot a couple of pictures yesterday when I left the dock for a maiden voyage.

By the way I did put on my PFD and hooked up the kill switch before I went on plane.
Safety FIRST:cool-smiley-027: This is usually a very calm cove but the wind was blowing to the north-north/west right across the main channel. |
Looks good doc, dont let the girls get too tuff on the drives.I hope you wiped them off before you put them away, and they like it about 68deg when they sleep.

Dock,
Post some photos of the new "Aggressor" bolsters. Did the ergonomics seem to be OK from the helm? We set them up for someone just a little taller than me. They are tight to get into, but seem to hold you much better. Tommie must really like the extra security feeling. Wait until that first poker run! XT:cool: |

XT:cool: The ergonomics of the rear triple bolster is PERFECT. I actually sat in it the other night for the first time and could not believe how nice it feels. The wife is very happy indeed with the front bolsters but they are taking a little getting used to for me. I'm used to just moving around freely and I have to twist to get in and out of these and feel locked in. I think you have the distance just right however. It may be a while on pictures until we get through Christmas. Thank you Dock |
We just got back in from our Christmas party at church tonight and it is COLD!
I have the heaters running in the bilge and the cuddy and it's going to be down to 20 degrees tonight! |

I'll take that 20 degrees right now. It is -4 here (40 miles out from Chicago) with a wind chill close to 30 below. I was in my garage tonight and the best the heater could muster was 42 degrees !!!!
|
Mark,
Glad you got out to give a little shake down run. I can't wait to see the 36 again in person. Hopefully I will be able to invite myself out for a run some time. :D |
