Thank you very much. Weather permitting we will be testing on the original Baja test lake next Wednesday in Bucyrus, Ohio. I feel that is a fitting place and I want to get some pictures of the boat up there in the reservoir.
And theres nothing like running 70+ MPH at the rocks watching the speed on the GPS creeping higher then turning at the last possible second!:ernaehrung004: |
BTW, sorry I missed your call Doc, was busy with a customer.
Some dumb kid from Dubuque Iowa is picking me up tonight and we are heading far south for the weekend so expect a call from one of us soon! |
That's so cool you just did that for us! Kudo's man- looks awesome!! Can't wait to see it roaring around LKN! :ernaehrung004:

Glad to see that you have kept that boat and you are putting the new power in it. Anxiously waiting to see what the speed numbers are. If you need a set of labbed Maximus' props for testing let me know. Brett did them for me and my 36. If you can hit 6000 rpm then you will be into the nineties with my props.

The project looks awesome Doc!:Score-101010: Good luck with the rest of it I can't wait to see the paint job!!! Go for it!!!

Dock your boat was already the nicest 36 i have seen. It is now just over the top! I'm happy your going to finish the project. I know you and your wife love that boat. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Thanks for sharing,

Lets talk outdrives for a minute.
We have a fellow here on OSO that is one of the best outdrive guys you will find. Dick Tryce aka "Mr. Gadgets" Dick's Performance Marine [email protected] 616-403-1006 Dick has been a customer of mine for many years. Most of his outdrives have bearings in them that we supplied and he has always been a real pleasure to work with. I started hearing a lot of really good things about his work when we started attending poker runs up on Lake Erie. A lot of folks up there believe him to be the best set up man in the industry. He has built two pair of drives for me and while Bravo's have their limitations his will give you the best bang for the buck if you simply treat them right. He will always shoot straight with you and is happy to answer any questions and help you out as needed. I greatly appreciate his advice and he as taught me a lot about drives. Dick is a wonderful friend and we were honored to have him and his wife Kat join us on a poker run last year and I think he was even happier when we completed the run and his drives did not break! Talk about being under pressure. Okay here are the rules according to Mr. Gadgets: 1) Don't nail it out of the hole. 2) Once on plane get up to 40+ MPH before getting into it hard. 3) KEEP THE PROPS IN THE WATER. 4) Change the oil regularly and use Royal Purple. Dick has a beautiful Checkmate that he is building a new 1000 HP motor for just so he can test is ideas and improvements on the outdrives he builds. He is also an IMCO dealer and I hope you will all keep him in mind when you think outdrives. He has built the outdrives for the fastest Baja at the LOTO shootout for several years now. I hope you will check in on this thread Dick and say hello to everyone. Thanks for everything Mark |

Blast from the past...
May 6, 2002 Baja factory Bucyrus, Ohio This was the first time we saw our boat and they were rigging it. |
2 Attachment(s)
Okay here are some more shots of the current rigging job. Note where they mounted the trim pumps!
These guys do fantastic work and this is the quality of work they want to do and would have loved to have done at Baja. |

Check out this transom.
Again they totally rebuilt the transon assemblies, resealed them, replaced the drain plug, pulled off and resealed the A/C intake and added the water pick ups for the intercoolers. Kevin raised the holes for the exhaust about 3/4 of an inch cleaned them up and fully glassed them in. I've owned the boat now for 6+ years and never noticed that the swim platform was not on straight. Well they did and they filed in all the holes and redrilled them so it is correct and even straightened out the swim ladder which was slightly off center also. Nice work guy!:ernaehrung004: |

The wife shot a few pictures of me heading out to Bucyrus last month on the bike to check things out. I had a good friend that we ride with that was also coming but received a bad eye injury the day before and I made the trip by myself. It was nice to learn that Doug also rides a Harley as do many of the folks that work in the plant.
Clayton (Kustom Kolors) and his good buddy Darrell (tiny)broke out their choppers and we hit the big town of Bucyrus that night! |

For some reason Baja mounted the stereo amps in two different locations and Adam added a third and put them all together in one convienent location. He also added two new pair of speakers and while I will not compete with the Split decision boat in the stereo contest he has promised that it will be 100 times better than before.
Adam is the "King Dude" of sound systems, wiring, electrical and LED lights. I cannot even count how many LED's he has added!:cool-smiley-027: |
sick project dock! cant wait to see it finished!

Well why not.
This is not the best picture but Adam talked me into getting in the boat with my riding gear. I'm glad he is better at rigging then at photography! |
Thanks for all the good words.....now I better get back to work if we are running it next week!

Looks awsome, Doc! Let me know when you get it back to LKN and take it out for a test drive.
I emailed Ed at BoatMenders about doing some odds and ends on my boat. It looks like he does great work. X- |

Well I knew I would forget someone and that is Mike Mayes at CP Performance. Mike has been a huge help with sea strainers, sand strainers, fittings, hose and many other items.
He is a great fellow to deal with and knows is stuff. |

Mark, I'm so glad you are finally telling everyone what I've been privy to for a few months now!
Awesome project on a superior product done by an ambassador to the brand by the best in the industry. Wheew! What was that sucking sound? We are gonna need a 90+ Club get together somewhere this summer! |
