Yeah but I hear tale of an old man on the bay with a beak boat that may give me a ride. I think they call him the mayor. Ever here of this mystery man?

Sounds like a plan buddy. I'm ready for shim creek and a midnight cruise across the shipping channel! LOL

Dock, did you sell your boat with no power? I see you listed your drives and blowers for sale that were on your boat.

redbud35 01-15-2011 07:54 AM

We seen the boat at the shootout this summer with the new owners.

29 OUTLAW 02-02-2011 10:48 AM

Wow - I remeber when you bought that boat. I'd have to say you've gotten your money's worth.

Michael Martin 02-02-2011 11:41 AM

Awesome boat and story. Thanks for posting it!!

Well, I thought he sold the boat. I don't understand why this is such a secret. I've asked in other threads about the boat but can't get an answer. There was a thread stating that Doc sold the boat, but it was deleted. Hmm.

I think in another thread, that the people who had the boat at the shootout backed out after that weekend.

thats where I saw the boat and Mark wasnt the captain

Dock Holiday 02-04-2011 06:53 PM

Hey Guys

I hope you are all doing very well. I saw that this thread was back up and I want to reply and clear up any speculation.

Yes I did sell the boat and the new owner took in to LOTO during the shootout but he had a change of heart and I took the boat back. With winter here I did not want to advertise it and deal with everything involved with showing and demonstrating a boat so I put it in storage at a good friend’s house that has a very large enclosed building where he keeps his Fountain.

A lot has changed in our lives and those of you that know Christ as your savior will understand. While I have attended church all my life I really was not living for Christ. I tried to be a good guy but that will not get you into heaven. God was tugging at my heart for the last two years hard and I finally realized that serving him is all that is important in this very short time on earth that we call life. I am thankful that in 52 years he kept me safe, gave me two beautiful children and brought me to North Carolina where I found a wonderful wife of 21 years now and most importantly never gave up on me. I serve God first, family second and material things of life last.

I have a new job as regional Sales Manager for a local company of 45 employees that does Electro-Mechanical repair. I work from home and travel daily setting my own sehedule. Not having 18+ employees to deal with has been a blessing in itself. I’m Assistant Director of our local Harley Chapter this year. Currently I involved with a group of 11 high school students helping them compete in the US First Robotics Competition and I’m very active in our church where I now sing in the choir. So the boat has really been on the back burner and the weather has been too cold to ride the Harley. Oh did I mention I’m learning to play the guitar?

I don’t have much time to spend on the computer anymore and I have to admit that OSO and the other sites actually became so addictive that it was almost like a sickness to me. I would not trade the good times we enjoyed and the wonderful people we met while doing the performance boating thing. There are too many of you to list all the names and I would not want to leave any of you out. You all know who you are and I’m proud to call you all friends. I look forward to our paths crossing again soon and I wish you all calm waters and bright sunshine.

May God bless you and keep you safe on the water.

Mark Terry

One last thing:

Want a 36 Outlaw? Great choice

Want to go 100 MPH in a 36 Outlaw? Save you money!

I was disappointed that we only broke the 90 MPH mark by 2 MPH and only did it twice. I invested a lot and while we could have bumped the boost on up I don't think the hull loaded up with all the accessories we had on the boat would have ever gone over 95 to 96 MPH.

But I tried!:coolcowboy:

Mark,
I hadn't been paying close enough attention to realize you took your boat back.
You know everyone here wishes you well in whatever direction your life takes you.......and following gods will needs no explanation.

Good to hear you are doing well Mark. If you are ever in Knoxville, look me up. Take care.

Mark,

Glad to hear you are doing well and have made it over the hump of tough times. I am back employed as well and am looking forward to a normal boating summer again.

Best of luck to you both !!

Oddly enough what you have said sounds a lot like my mentor and ex boss. Reading this gave me a chill and some memories of him. He taught me everything I know about management. An Amazing man. Sadly and very suddenly he lost a very, very short fight with cancer and passed on to a better world. He went in to the skin DR for what was thought to be a pimple and turned out to be cancer. What was even more chilling is his name was also Marc Terry (spelled with a c instead of a k). Glad you found god in life, everyone needs him....that's for sure! Our days are limited and at anytime our number can be up. Hopefully you will find the passion and get the old Baja out and enjoy it for what it is!

tbirdusa 02-06-2011 02:44 PM

Maybe this isn't the place to ask but..... where is the boat listed? Does it have the 4 bolster set up?

machloosy 03-21-2011 09:02 AM

What a thread... Spent 5 days on and off catching all 96 pages as I could between projects. Doc your build up was nothing short of epic, and then the testimony and where your headed now is even better. Best of luck and look forward to knowing your back in the water!!!

kragar 07-23-2011 07:27 PM

Smitty 07-23-2011 11:00 PM

No it does not have the 4 bolster set up.

Dont want to lose this thread, I find myself reading it to figure things out sometimes. I still have the boat and after some adjustments with the computer early last year it is running great, I am excited for another season coming up. I have yet to be disappointed with how Dock has customized this boat, everything to the finest detail was covered. It seems like I find something everytime I dig and I am amazed at the attention to detail.

So how does it run? After you got the engines back together what kinda Hp did you end up with?

They were dyno'd by CK at 630HP (I never saw the dyno sheets). I had Ben Bowman tune them after they were done here in my lake and that guy is a genius. They run so smooth and efficient. getting close to 80 out of her right now and BBlades was off with the first try on the props, I have them back now and are adjusted because they only gained me RPM and no speed. Hope this spring the new props will get me over 80. Its a very efficient 80 on these motors though, running 5200 RPMs on motors that are built to take much more abuse. They have 50 hours on them now and I think they will have a long life. Has a set of new XRs onto the IMCO boxes as well and this set up should be solid if you dont air it out all the time. I am very pleased with the boat. Offcourse I want to go faster but it is not going to happen in a Baja....

XT-Innovator 01-29-2013 07:32 PM

Over 101,000 views and almost 100 pages without fighting, or naked photos. Wow! I think it is still the top Baja thread of all time. Glad to be a part of it, and glad the boat ended up with someone that appreciates it.
