So it begins...A rebuild thread

hey how hard would it before you to fill the rest of the cut out and move the the drive up 2'' if a shortie is out. you will have more speed better handling going up 2''. with the new box I am getting with the konrad I am going up 3'' from stock
, looks good and call if you have a chance.
, looks good and call if you have a chance.I plan on going up at least 2". I wish I would have made a filler in the drive hole before I layed the new glass on the inside but hind-sight is 20/20, I'll just fill it in from the outside now. I spent the last half of last week getting my cuz's Top Gun water-ready and haven't pulled the 2x4's off yet, will probably pop them off today and start on the stringers.

Inside of transom is done. Need to do a little more grinding on the outside and fill the holes. This thing was one holey beetch from all the changes different owners had done over the years. Ground until my hand went numb and I ran out of discs last night. Will finish up and start laying new glass in the holes next weekend.

Finished grinding out all of the holes last Friday, spent Saturday and Sunday laying glass to fill them back up. Then spent yesterday trying to grind them down flush, its close, not perfect but close. Maybe one or two more layers to fill in some low spots. Then start working working on replacing the bulkhead in front of the motor and working on the stringers that run down along the gas tank.

Slacking on the updates but still getting the work done. Found a spot where the laminate over the coring was faulty and had to grind it out and put in some new core but still moving along. Got the bulkhead in front of the engine back in. Ran it up the sides and will trim out the middle when I got to put the seats back in. Should strenghten the hull up some. Going to move the stringers outboard of the engine mounts and mount the engine mounts on some aluminum angle iron and add two additional stringers on each side. One under the motor and one between the engine mount stringers and the outer shelf stringer where the batteries, trim pump will go. Should have the stringers in this week and the engine room done except for gelcoat or paint, haven't decided yet. Then move on to the forward stringers, maybe this weekend depending if I go party all weekend or not. Plenty of other peoples boats I can ride on

cool its better to bring them straight up and will stop the gel coat cracks in the corners, you should make a new seat base and keep the bulkhead high thats what I might do if I put the back seat back in. you will knock off a couple of hundred pounds. and trip the back rests so they are flat instead of angled, but you would need to add on to the motor cover to thats what I am doing so the motor can come straight out. if my stringers are bad its good to move them out and line them up with the middle stringers. sutphen and a few others run the stringers all the way threw for better support. if mine are good in the middle I will blend them in on a angle.

Dash insert - I was going to build a new one but it was too big a pain so I just fixed the old one. Needs a little more smoothing and will gelcoat when I re-gel the transom.
