ld leave that motor just the way it is have fun with it . you have to put a lot of money in it to go faster!!! my buddy put a 540 600hp then add a procharger so far 78mph 30pitch prop still tested. i have a 24baja i built a 500 hp motor and only got 66,7 mph then i put a 540 dart now i am doing 80mph .i wish i would of not waisted my money on the 500hp motor. guys were telling me my boat will be in the low 80s :bsflag: so think real hard how much you want to spend?????take a ride on the same boat that they put power in there boat then you will no .i was reading that a guy said if you put this prop on your boat that you will pick up 3mph so the guy buys the prop now week later has it for sale:angry-smiley-038: said he only trun 4600.the old prop was 5000rpm so beware who you talk to

In my experience there are alot of variables in place even for the same model boat. For instance X demension and even lower unit gearing between year models can make a significant difference. Also, a person who buys a boat used may not be aware that it had been modified or a part exhanged for repair. For a reference my '08 26 Outlaw could only muster 59 mph at 4700 rpm bone stock with a 26 B1 (1.65 ratio). I weighed the boat on registered scales at 6,200 lbs. Mathmatically the Raylar heads and Dana exhaust put the motor at 517 hp. Nothing else was changed and now the boat hits 65 at 5100 rpms. These are real world numbers folks. Im not sure what improvements can be made with setup yet, but when I see claims of upwards to 80 mph on a boat that weighs as much as mine with only 500 hp I call BS.

Just my opinion but you should be getting more speed out of your boat than that. I have no experience with the 1.65 ratio but with a 496 ho you should see 65 stock. Your rpm sounds low to me. You might try labbing or dropping a pitch. You also may consider a three blade for a top speed prop.

Hey indy. I see some 26 OL's claiming 65 and some where I am at (was). Unfortunately I dont see any around other than mine for comparisons. For all I know there may be some issue with my prop or maybe someone hid a bunch of bricks in the hull...its much heavier than I expected. lol In a couple of months I plan to buy an IMCO SC with 2" shorty and will be playing around with different props. Hopefully I will see some gains.

Is this what they call "blue printing" the hull? What does this all entail?

Send a message to screen name emilsr. His name is Ray and has a 26 outlaw and has tested more props then anyone I know. I think he can help you out.

Every boat is different. I just had my 29 outlaw done. Blue printing is basically making every area on the bottom that is running surface perfect creating less drag. My 29 had a "hook" which was a 1" drop from about 24" from the transom that in my words was a built in trim tab before the tabs. Every edge was sharpened and the bottom is now more efficient. I say every boat is different because I have seen boats with more, less and no hook. My 272 has no hook but I believe every boat can benefit from bettering the bottom and making every edge true and sharp.

Good info hear. I was thinking of putting a Shorty on my 25 and was interested if anyone has done it. I have hit 70 GPS a few times in my stock 496 with a 23 mirage plus done by bblades. She really runs between 65 and 68 GPS. I'm interested in gaining maybe 3 to 4 MPH. Wondering the best way to go

After mid 60's the wedges have no effect on speed. They are way out of the water.

Yep, I agree I have raced many of them to there disapointment most of them only run 66MPH with 496HO. Most of them will tell you they run 70 but they dont.
