My boat must either have a really deep X or the motor was a total dog. Maybe I need to get the -3 shorty. lol I am really curious what the ACTUAL weight is of the 25 OL and the 236...weighed on scales not guessing. Thinking of naming my boat "The Brick". haha

Thanks Bob I will ask around for a 27. The IMCO SC will be a 1.5 so props will be more plentyful then. I plan on getn with BBlades and I am sure with a higher X and dialed in prop I can find a few more mph. Dont really want to spend any money on the B1x.

Send a message to screen name emilsr. His name is Ray and has a 26 outlaw and has tested more props then anyone I know. I think he can help you out.
....and Rick, get under your boat with a straight edge. Ours has no hook or wedges....flat as a board all the way aft. About the only thing I can see is the angle between the hull and the transom could be a little sharper. |
Extension Box with 2" Shorty
I wish I could give you some after numbers on the addition of my Stellings Box with 2" Shorty. Just got it back this weekend and have some kinks to work out before I can give you some real world "after" numbers.

Extension box, shorty lower, prop experimenting and hull blueprinting are all good advice. I spent almost 5k on CMIs for my 496HO and saw ZERO gain. I was a little upset about the outrageous speed claims! More often than not the CMIs do nothing on a stock 496. Personally I wouldn't spend a penny on the motor. Put your money into the aforementioned mods and a repower. I swapped to a 525 EFI and never looked back. I picked up a solid 10 mph over the 496 and a ton more durability. My boat is a '05 Donzi 22 Classic now running 83-86 mph with stock 525 and XR/Imco shorty. BBlades Bravo 1 prop.

I agree with the CMI issue, I was leaning that route and heard some very bad things about them that is when I chose to go the box and shorty route. I also want to upgrade the motor next year with either a 525 or Raylar. |
for you guys with the 26 ol, my dad just got one couple years back. has a ho in it came with a 23p 3 blade and the boat ran 60-61 on speedo, you could not trim the boat up at all, maybe 1/4 on the gauge and it would start spinning out.
i put my 4 blade 22 i had sitting and she went 64 mph handled better, 4-5 mph faster cruze speed at 3400-3500 rpm, just better over all. only issue is she hits the rev limiter. hoping to toss my labbed 24 on it and see how she runs with that. seems the new hull with the big pad doesnt like the 3 blade. gonna look into that box and stuff for my mate, i keep going back and forth about what to do and keep an eye out for 525 atleast 2-3 times a week!!!! |
