2005 Outlaw SST, 500 EFI. Speed, prop questions.

Took it out Saturday and Sunday. Boat is running good. But I'm a little disappointed in the top speed. Best I could do was 69.3 gps. This is at sea level, flat water, freshwater. I know with a little chop there's a couple more mph to be had, but I was still expecting a little more.
Prop is a box stock 24p Bravo 1
Max RPM was 5000, maybe 5050. While the boat was still in New Orleans I had Mark Boos from Precision Marine flash the ecm. So again I was hoping for some more speed.
Mark told me optimal top speed RPM after the ecm flash is 5400, and thats what I should prop for.
Remember now I'm only getting 5000 rpms. I'm scared if I go with any pitch lower than the 24 my crusing will suffer greatly.
Any ideas guys? Thanks.
in boat mag bob teaguseput a 540 500hp bulldog motor in your boat ran 150bravo drive 23mirage prop 5100rpm it only went 68mph that was gps and rader so you getting69.3 is good.if you like the cruseing speed ?told do nothing to that prop if you gain rpm at top speed you lose cruseing speed . your 500efi is better then the carb 500. for that other baja with the 496very hard for me to see him doing 74mph ?? my buddy has the same power and he only does 65mph gps and thats no gas and just him in the boat!!!! good luck with your boat very nice rideOriginally Posted by RunninRed
Well I'm the new owner of the 05 Outlaw with the 500EFI and the monster stereo. This boat is bad-ass let me tell you. Big thanks to Rafe for making the sale as easy as possible. i believe Josh (deepsouth) is pushing 24p B1 to rev.. Believe he is running solid 65.. maybe more..
500 efi, I would think a 26b1 would be more like it, possibly labbed..
are you hitting rev with the 24 now? loaded flat water?
either way.. congrats on the boat neighbor! 69 does seem good at 500hp..
if it were me.... I would be 26 b1 and get that cruise up.. 90% of our running is 4k cruise... I am playing around now and wanting to get 24b1 myself.
tryed buddys rev 4 21p, but not enough prop and cruise low despite 4 blades!

I'm guessing that boat is alot heavier than Josh's boat with all that bling in it...I've found myself in mine that weight is a major factor in how a boat's center of gravity reacts...200lbs can change the speed of a boat by 2mph...

well we figured out that it had 111 hours under 1k rpmOriginally Posted by rmfriday

you know thats your buddy. Everytime i seen you on the river you had to keep it under 3k Originally Posted by jmeng

Really though we hooked it to the computer and it showed 256hrs. Meter only showed 117. The times didnt look bad except for 111hrs under 1k rpm. I think it had 20hrs from 4k-5k and .2hrs 5k and up.
Mark at Precision assured us that the meter only ran when the motor was turning and the boat still checked out fine.

there no way he can run a 26bravo prop . its 200rpm for each pitch change. so he is doing 5000 with a 24pitch that 26bravo will only trun 4600rpm AND IF YOU LAB IT YOU GOT TO GO 700RPM TO DO 74 MPH AT 5300 . I DO NOT THINK THAT CAN BE DONE.!!you have to prop the boat so it is in its power band. there a tag on the motor . it will say WOT4800 TO 5200 MAX RPM THAT WAS MY POWER BAND ON MY OLD MOTOR SO I PROP IT AT 5200 I GOT THE BEST SPEED . NOW IF I PROP IT TO 4800 I GET GREAT CRUSING ,BUT LOSE TOP END. I WOULD TRY PROPS THAT ARE STOCK FIRSTAND GET IT SO YOU MAX YOUR RPM.Originally Posted by nailit

The 25 OL in question has stock 496 HO, CMI Headers, Stellings Box all the way up spinning a 26 P B1...not sure if it is labbed or not. I have seen his GPS showing 72 MPH.Originally Posted by bajabob
