Sounds like you have been doing alot of running around. Just make sure you check the rear bench and sunpad frames to make sure that they arent soaked or rotting. Both my current boat and my old 226 bowrider needed to be rebuilt when i got ahold of the boat. It isnt terribly difficult to do just something to look at or possibly get afew more dollars off on the price. What motor is in the 236? a 310 mpi motor or is it carbed?

If you have the 310 motor i am guessing you should probably be running a 21p prop on it. If you are interested once you get it together i have a labbed 21 that b blades did for me this past spring that id be willing to sell for cheap. It isnt going to work with my new setup. It really made the cruise speed faster and would stay on plane as low as 2600 rpm. it carried the bow really well. I know that the 236 has a slightly less degree hull but if you would want to try before you buy im good with that. Im really not that far from you and work in Newark pretty frequently.

Thanks Mickey, I'm sure it has a 21 Mirage on it as I looked at the prop and definitely interested in the labbed prop if I'm able to get together on the boat, probably call him tonight and make an offer, just worried about the water test, I'm off this Sunday but it's pretty darn cold and don't like buying a boat without a test ride.

Anytime. Just be sure to bundle up, you might get some looks if anyone is at the boat ramp duck hunting when you dump in and fire it up with the exhaust opened up lol. Good luck with the purchase!

Offered the guy $8K on the Baja 236 last night and he got pissed, then said $9K was the best he could do and would have to check with the wife as he sold his hot rod car and she doesn't like the Cigarette 1 he bought to take the kids on so he might keep both. He was supposed to call me back last night and never did, maybe he will call today or not. If he doesn't call might go look at that 24 Outlaw from Craigslist but I think the wife will hate the cockpit size, no steps to get up on the bow when we tie up and having to crawl into the cabin. The 236 was a big boat for it's size and had all the features to make us both happy. Figuring about $1,500 to $2K to get the interior repaired and add a GPS would put me around the 12K range on it. Also have to spend money to try and get the title for the trailer.

I was once told by a very wise man patience is a virtue, and in this economy offer what you feel comfortable with, obviously he is selling for a reason. Wether that's he needs the money or has too many toys. It's winter time and boats aren't the hot item right now. He will come around or it's his loss in the guaranteed buyer. But anyways don't chase him is the best advice I can give you. There will always be more boats that are better then the next with what you wanna spend. But on a different note the cabin on the 24/240 sport is alittle bit of a pain to get into. I don't know how much over nighting you plan on doing. I've slept in mine Afew times but its just two of us. It's plenty doable and isn't bad. Do you have children that you're over nighting with?

No kids to overnight, just be the wife and I on a rare instance, more likely used for some romancing after some alcohol and sunshine, LOL. One big concern on the 24 Outlaw is how to get up on the bow when we are docking it or anchoring etc, the 236 had steps and a windshield that opened, Can't jump as well as I used to when I had my 220, had to step on the seat, then the dash and hop over, looking to avoid that now. ALso liked the cockpit and seating on the 236 as lots of times the kids or inlaws come out with us and it had additional seating without cramming everybody.

Yea that's the only way I've found to get on the bow of mine, step on the seat on the dash then over the windshield. Good thing is the dash is pretty deep so there is atleast a place to step. I took some advise I read on here and added a set of cleats to the hull about where the windshield is that way you have something you can tie to for the time being until you can get to the front. Seating I think is alittle better on the outlaws as they don't have the seat support that runs across on the 240 sports. But it will be alittle more cramped then the 236. Good luck whatever path you run down. Gotta keep the wife happy too lol

Doesn't the 240/24OL have deck hatches? Thats how I get on my bow. Going over the windscreen is a pain.

Yea they have 2 but they're small. Very very small 10x10 12x12 tops. It would take a magician to fit through them. Lol. I've done the windshield jump for so long it just feels natural now.
