I wish someone close by had a 260 I could look at before I go that far and make sure the wife is on board etc. How do you get up on the bow to tie off? She doesn't like jumping, the 27 has built in steps. .

I always just went through the hatch. The 260 is a great family boat. She will love it. It also is a great tubing boat.

Shortage of good deals so far, a couple of the Craigslist boats I emailed, I let them know my price range before I drive that far and they didn't even answer. Going to a big Gumbo Festival with wife and 2 other couples this weekend so can't check anything out until later this month, nothing new coming up anyway, hopefully more will be listed by the end of this month and March. we wanted to be on the water by April.

I was just going to check in with you today to see if any new deals came up. It can be pretty tiresome looking and looking. I know you don't want to really go older then the mid 90s but have you looked into any of the checkmates? They usually are big for their size and are nice boats as well? I've seen some 25 convincors for close to the price range you're looking. They might be early 90s boats but most are upgraded with good components. Just thinking outloud. Also if your using crazy list do you use a mass search program like searchtempest.com or anything? Good luck!!

I've come across a couple of 25 Convincor's but most are asking at least 20K unless you go back into the 1980's. Baja is my first choice but I'd take a 25 Convincor, Powerquest, Sunsantion, any good quality boat in 25 to 27 range but my price range is really limiting me right now. So far the best deal has been a 272 1996 Baja but it's an Islander for $14K before making an offer, I really want a cabin, wife prefers it but she said it's my money so I get to pick as long as it has decent cockpit room.

Did you see this boat? It's in Annapolis md. Price seems fair has bolster seating and a decent color. I know it's been for sale alittle while so usually it means the boat has seen better days.

Location says EDGEWATER and it looks like a FL number on the hullside? Still a clean boat just maybe a little faded. We can fix that interior and still stay under budget.

Edgewater is a small town about 10 minutes south of Annapolis md, the hull numbers might be FL the picture is alittle blury, the guys phone number is a 301 area code that matches up for southern md.

Mr XT any chance you could PM me a cost for a 240 sport full cover? It would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! Sorry for the hijack.

I went and looked at that boat, no title for the trailer, Sunpad and rear side seats need redone, made an offer of $8000 and he said no way, said he might take $9000, I said OK and he said he needed to talk to his wife as she hates the Cigarette 1 he bought. He also had a Turbo Regal T type for sale. He sold the car and then decided to keep both boats, the Baja for when he takes the wife and kids out, said if he changes his mind he will call me. That's been about 2 weeks.

That's right I remember you talking about that boat, seems to be a limited number of boats for sale right now. Hopefully the warm weather will bring some fresh boats out. Where do you plan on doing most of your boating? It's a shame they canceled canal day this year.

Delforce22 02-07-2013 09:44 AM

We have a place in Buttonwood Beach at the mouth of the Elk River near Turkey Point, most of the boating will be in the upper Chesapeake, like to go to Lloyds Creek on the Sassafrass, sometimes down past the Bohemia Bridge, sometime Jellyfish Joels's and sometimes Farilee Creek. Once in a great while might go tto Watermans in Rock Hall and maybe Red Eyes's Dock bar, but that's usally about 1 or 2 times a season, long run down the bay with the price of full and sometimes it can get rough.
