Thanks for the ad's XT, I see the 260 is rated for 7 people while the 270 is rated for 6 and the length on the 260 shows as 26' and the 270 as 25'9", looks like a bigger cabin in the 27 and more cockpit in the 26. Got a 8:00AM appt to see the 27 tomorrow, I'll post how I make out.

If you were running poker runs every weekend the 270 is your boat. The 270 running surface is the same as the newer 272's and 275's so it is one great running boat. Those that own 270's love them but they also know they have to be careful with the windscreen because they are know to get broken easier than a framed glass windshield like the 260, and 236 models. Not bashing by any means here, it is just one bad mark for the 270 model. There is a member on OSO that developed a fiberglass windscreen for the 270's that can be bought. His name on OSO is Structural Guy. From what your saying is you are more into cruising around with the wife more often.

Wife will be on there 90% of the time and she is no speed demon, ex wife was just the opposite but that's a long story for a different forum, LOL. Wife did have the old boat up to 60 with her driving once on a flat Sept day with no boats around but generally she doesn't like getting bounced around and rarely drives, I think she drove the old boat twice in 3 years. Making a 4 hr drive to see the 260 in NY on Sunday and seeing the 270 tomorrow, might have a boat soon.

Man my girl does not care. if she is driving she is scared and watchign all kinds of stuff.
If i am driving, or anyone else in our crew, on any of there boats, she is chill, will move around get beers, what ever. or pass out in the cabin. never heard a word about that. now peeing in the cold water before i had a usable head... that i heard about. |
A 91 260 with the 7.4 engine might get ya 55 on the speedo so no big speeds. And some of those ads say 330 hp but in 91, with the 7.4/Bravo engine, it was 300 hp. Its only 30 hp so no big deal.

Looked at the 27, I really like it, wife was OK with it, engine has been worked, said he just spent 10K on 2 years ago, has a $3K set of chrome Eddie Marine headers on it. Young owner, doesn't look to have been babied, said it runs 68 mph at 5,000 rpm, alum bunk trailer with no title. Cockpit was small but interior had been redone a few years ago and was nice, had manual drop out seats. He does have someone looking at it tomorrow but I feel like I still need to look at the 260 which I have an appt to see Sunday. Also said he blew the outdrive last June and had it rebuilt, turns a 23 Mirage. Windshield was not broken which is an issue on them.

The boat in the ad is a 1990 250 ES. Same boat as a 89' Sport 250, or a 91' Baja 270. There were (6) and one was mine! baja 240 DVX models built in 1990 that never made the brochure, but in 91' it was renamed the Baja 260. Hope this helps.
XT Is there a listing in the 1991 brochure for a 1991 235 DVX? I bought one last year and cant find any information on it. I had a 1988 235 and got a cruiser....now I'm back into a Baja. I checked the title and hull #. I even checked BUC and NADA and neither list it either. Thanks in advance. |
