Must be crickets on there forum! Only reason I could think he would post here... Checkmate makes a great boat, but we are not checkmate owners!

I will say this about Checkmates vs Baja, a good friend has a big single engine old school 1995 Checkmate (280) with a 525 sc, comparing his boat to my 272 Baja I would have to concede his is built slightly better, factory wiring is much nicer than mine was, feels more solid than mine and overall looks better built BUT in the end when we RACE just to make it more fun and to rub it in I take my blower belt OFF and run NA and can still SPANK his 525sc innercooled set-up by 1-2 mph. I offered to take the blower belt AND a PLUG wire off next time to make it FAIR

That's too funny! I agree bajas are not the best built boats on the water, but there price tags keep a lot of people in the performance game. If this was the only toy i owned i might just have a Skater,MTI,CIG etc, but then I wouldn't have the other things I enjoy as well!

OH I definately agree, a good example was I think when my 272 was built they just used a wiring harness for a 40 foot outlaw and someone just stapled the xtra 20 +feet of wire back and forth across my transom in a jumbled mess. I have owned this thing since new though and it has held up remarkably well for th power that has been put thru it, Smitty

I'm on my 3rd Baja, never a problem with any of them that I didn't creat myself! The wiring remark cracked me up!, I've seen that in a buddy's boat, we where both like " DAG " I told him the extra was to hang himself with when his wife found out how much he just paid for the boat!! Lol
