Hey Y'all,
My first post on OSO. Can you guys give me some advise on a boat I am looking at in the link below. I am very familiar with supercharged set ups on vehicles but not in boats. What do I need to look out for when looking at a boat like this? Mostly in areas of the out drive and other items. What can I expect the top speed to be on a set up like this?

.

Be Careful!!!! i agree it looks like a 496 which many on here will tell you in if not properly modified when the supercharger is installed can become a gernade. Just have it checked by a good mechanic i know from experience the first boat i bought when i got back into about 6 years ago had a side mount whipple set up on a 502 mag problem was it was not set up properly and i ended up spending a lot of money trying to make it right.

... survey is a must before purchase!!

Clean boat, we are looking at the same pictures right? :party-smiley-004:

Personally it is not even worth a survey after looking at those pictures. :lolhit:

Just by the way the ad is written I would run. The guy is definitely a screwball, and most likely has no real mechanical knowledge of boats, which makes for a real scary previous owner. It's one think to exaggerate the speed, but to not know the displacement, boost, or HP just scares me. Every once in a while I meet someone with this disease in the boating world, even worse in the winter when you can't shut them up or prove them wrong.

"Run" is great advice, especially if you do not have experience with boats, they are not at all like cars especially if they are not taken care of. After looking at those pictures, that boat hasn't been taken care of. Keep looking, there are a lot of boats out there.

Haha.... I stand corrected! I didn't see the interior pics, that thing is a mess.... I think the advice to " RUN " is on point!!

I say BS on the Horsepower......:lolhit: Needs a better drive, will not cruise at 70mph and looking at maybe 600-650hp tops with it being a 496. I'm gonna guess 75GPS tops depending on prop and X-dimension........imo. Buyer beware of true hours on engine, shape of drive and of course transom and stringer shape. You definitely won't know if it's had the brakes ran off it so I would look at a compression test and leak down too boot.

1000 hp should turn a 32 pitch 6000 rpms at 100 mph IF it actually had that kinda power, mine does. A 454 or 496 would need about 20 psi of boost and the best heads out there to make that kinda hp and you would be into strictly race gas territory, RUN, Smitty
