My first post on OSO. Can you guys give me some advise on a boat I am looking at in the link below. I am very familiar with supercharged set ups on vehicles but not in boats. What do I need to look out for when looking at a boat like this? Mostly in areas of the out drive and other items. What can I expect the top speed to be on a set up like this?

.

I have a 1997 outlaw sst w/ a high performance 502 m1 procharger w 8 pds boost. It does about 80mph non gps speed with a spinelle prop. I had a few things upgraded and not sure on the new horsepower, never had it dynoed my self, but when i bought it, it had 620 hp qouted buy the owner

I would suggest have a marine mechanice look at the engine, and make sure everything was done right on the engine. Make sure the guy knows about super chargers too. I had to fix things the previous owner did incorrectly. Big thing arp studs, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure gauge, better fuel pump "electric", anti syphane valved removed, adaquate fuel pressure ratio to boost, you must run at least 91 octane ( i have to in mine ), the right size fuel lines so you don't go lean. I would have a marina that builds race boat engines look at the engine in detail before you buy

also you can call or email me for more info

Run

Some of you guys :lolhit: I dunno if I would say RUN. I would get more detailed info on the boat. If your local go look at it, do a compression test, check oil ect, check drive for slop( shouldn't have any if boat was always hydro steer) Doesn't look to be anything that can not be cleaned up. That is all ammo for price nego.

I agree with Fenderjack , get it checked out best you can and if you really like the set up get it, it is more expensive to make that boat that way then to buy it. It sounds really fast. Just have a marina check it out. make sure the marina is familiar with super chargers and that type of high performance engine. And you should be fine. if you really like the boat go for it. It is only money and a good time. You will always have to put money inot boats no matter what you have. it is like women. They never stop needing or wanting things

502 SC trouble shooting

I have a 99 OL 502 w/whipple side mount 2.3, still has the piggy back computer. I blew a head gasket last summer, pulled engine and rebuilt her this winter. As of now the injectors aren't pulsing, wont start. Engine check light is on, whipple check light is showing code 15 (I think). I have went over grounds and all connections, everything is good to go. I am thinking of buying a Mercrusier scanner to read/delete the codes, and run an injector test.

Will the scanner allow me to read/delete the code on the piggy back computer?
Is this the next step, or am I just missing a simple ground or a bad connection?

Any help would be appreciated and if anyone has a pdf of the instruction booklet, that would be awesome!

I am trying to avoid taking it to a shop, it has to be something simple, right???

Thanks,

Hey Smitty, I'm selling mine. Bought a 33 OL last month. Mines a little older but I have a dyno sheet with 927hp on it. Plus it's $10k cheaper :) We all know that HP ain't cheap!
