Now that you seem to have the engine sorted, I think your problem is just the prop Rooster. You were getting better numbers with the R4 from BBlades. Did you send that back? Convert this Mirage to garage wall art and get a prop you know is good, then you're rolling.

Definitely. I've got both a M+25p and a Rev4 23p on the way. I'll try those both and see what happens. Even with the beat up M+ that I had to use I was 6mph from the previous best run. Thumbsup!

Just a reminder Rooster...The M+ 25 is a BEAST. It eats 4-500 RPM over the 23. It also slips and blows out bigtime. I can't spin it, and my current (M+23) prop is pitched up from 23 to 24.4 per Brett. A friend even had a brand new one labbed at Bblades and I couldn't spin it worth a dayum. It's a total different animal (not just "one size bigger") than the 23 for some reason. I did hang it on a Pro XS 250 outboard/21' Bass Boat and ran it 77 MPH at 6200.

Thanks for the heads up! I got it shipped for $200, so I figure I can unload it for that. You can tune a 23p M+ to a 24+? Reading your posts on other forums seems to show that's a good prop if it's tuned right, correct?

Hookem is dead on about the 25p, I lost about 400 rpms motor felt sluggish from takeoff only thing my top end dropped about 2 mph.

You guys are also 75hp shy of what his engine is supposed to be, he should be able to spin the 25 M+ close to 4900 rpm, which is a good place to start because he could have it labbed and get another 300 rpm out of it. However the boat will feel a lot more "hooked up" with a four blade. If top speed is the goal the M+ should be the ticket. I remember you saying something about a tube, and I can tell you that getting on plane with a 3 blade isn't a lot of fun compared to a four blade, but I always just ease into it because I never pull a tube or anything of that nature. I would find a 4 blade that works and go that route.

It still has the OEM manifolds, so an exhaust this winter should open up those last few ponies. I do have a Rev4 23p Enroute to use for skiing and such. The other prop was for use in the open water, but it seems that maybe a tuned M+ 23p is the way to go there.

I'm closer to 500HP than 425 and I couldn't turn the LABBED 25 to my satisfaction.

When we we're doing this exact exercise with a friend in KY last fall we learned a lot. He had read my claims and had almost the exact same boat/motor/HP, yet he was almost 9 MPH slower. He had run the stock M+23 and bought a new M+25 from Brett and had it labbed before he even ran it. It ran almost exactly like the stock 23 (but felt like it was lugging). So he sent me the 25 and I sent him my wheel. His first pass with my prop he picked up 7 MPH and said it felt like a completely different boat, carrying the bow and throttle response. When we were talking to Brett about it he told me to use 24.4 when running slip numbers on my prop. We ended up sending my prop back to Bblades and he put it on the "MRI" to generate a exact computer file of all it's atributes. My buddy sent his stock 23 to Brett and had my wheel cloned. The labbed 25 went back in the box.

Mine has been worked bigtime. The diameter was cut down 5/8" and the blade shape and area was changed dramatically, plus it has some serious cup. Bblades did all the work but Brett and I went back and forth several times (the prop only went back to him once). I'm rambling now, I hope I answered your questions.

Sounds like you need to send bblades your 23 M+......... The outlaw bottom must be a little different or my HP500 has more torque, but i spin a 25 M+ with good results, 72.7 mph at 5100 rpm.

Ya you're making more power than us. I believe the bottom of the 25 OL and 272 are identical.
