Question Loose tilt steering

Anyone know how to get the tilt steering assembly off ? My 33 Outlaw has tilt steering, but it is loose. It moves side to side, but I can't tell where it is loose because it has a hard rubber boot over the pivot point. Can you just tighten it up or is there a u-joint in there that must be replaced? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Bret

I had the same problem, teleflex/morse steering company came out with a new design tilt
helm with brass bushings instead of plastic bushings to eliminate the play.I got mine from eddie marine phone#909 945 2830 and the tilt helm #TFX-SH91700.
hope this helps.

Call Fred, AKA "Too Old" at Trick Marine.

He can tell you how to get it off, and probably can save you money on what ever you need to fix it.

He also has a real good deal on Shrimp Baskets for your sea strainers!

Do you have a hydraulic helm?? the boot on mine is fairly easy to remove.
