Default loose steering

The steering on my 242 Formula is very loose. I currently have the engine out for re-powering. I would like to take this opportunity to correct my loose steering problem. I know the problem lies in the gimbal / steering arm, and I've heard that simply tightening the bolts is a bad idea that could lead to a cracked housing. What pieces parts do I need to get to fix this?

Generally you need a ring kit. The ring is aluminum and the shaft is steel and between the corrosion and wear the joint gets loose. It is easier to fix on the bench than on the boat with the motor in. Take a good look at where the slop is.
