This is my second Baja, first was a new 1992 204. Nice boat, light, lots of air time but too small. Now I have a 1988 240 with a 454 Mag in really nice shape! Some day soon I have to do a blower to make her feel light again.

Hey Ken, Everett has a B+M blower that will bolt right on your motor. Give him a ring, he needs the $$ bad at the moment (his back is out again) Kurt.

FBRONCO 11-29-2001 09:07 AM

95 24ft. Outlaw with a 454 Mag EFI with upgrades. Should be putting out 450 - 460 hp. 73 mph on Faria Speedometer at 5300 rpms with 23 mirage prop. 70 mph and 4900 RPMs with 24 bravo 1 prop. Plan to get the 24 bravo 1 labbed over the winter to pick up 300 - 400 rpms and hopefully some mph.

Caincando1 11-29-2001 04:08 PM

I guess now that the Tirsty Turtle bought a Pantera he thinks he's to good to own up to owning a Baja. LOL He stills owns it we'll just have to see if he claim it.

Waterfoul 11-30-2001 10:18 PM

Checking in with probably the oldest Baja here (I KNOW it has the most hours anyway). 1987 Baja Sport 240 with a 454 .030"over. Had it for 7 full seasons, 3rd motor, third drive (last one was NOT my fault, damn insurance company!). First drive was the stock alpha though. That hardly counts. Approx. 400 hp. 60 on a good day (it's a haavy boat). I use it EVERY weekend when the weather allows. Nearly 140 hours this year alone. Pics can be seen at waterfoul.5u.com

All of you need to make the treck to Lake of the Ozarks for Memorial Day. JBK and I will be there, so should you!!!!!!

Mike

Sacandaga 12-04-2001 02:12 PM

1998 Baja 25' Outlaw w/ HP500 Carb. SST package w/ Outlaw graphics. Love it. :D

Griff 12-05-2001 12:04 AM

1993 24 Outlaw that is FOR SALE. Top half of engine completely redone with upgraded cam, milled heads, Holley carb, and Imco exhaust. Engine is a 454 mag with about 425hp now and 450 hours on the bottom. Also cockpit interior is mostly new. Trailer included with 4 new tires and all new brakes. $23,000.

dirtlawyer 12-05-2001 09:32 AM

Hellbound - Did you notice much of a change with the engine mods? Did you do anything else besides cam, exhaust? I am almost finished with a rebuild on my 1995 272 Shooter's 502 Mag - new cam, roller rockers, 10:1 pistons, CMI headers, etc. etc.

JimmyBaja 12-05-2001 07:26 PM

Griff,

I think I've seen you at Cottonwood. Black & Red "B-Nauti"?

wwbobb 12-06-2001 02:51 AM

Dirtlawyer,

I didn't get radical with the rebuild. Fairly mild bump in camming(Crane flat hydraulic E234 .525 I222 .529 114LSA) and Gil Offshore exhaust were the only major changes. Reliability was my first concern.

I only ran it once after the work was complete and then only to about 4000 RPM until I get a few hours on the clock. Power increase was quite noticeable especially through midrange which I attribute to the dual pattern cam. I'll have to reprop come spring. Currently running a Hydromotive Quad 22 and am thinking a 24 may get me about 72 to 73 MPH.

Sounds like your build should be fairly potent with the compression increase(good bye regular). What cam? Any clearance problems with the roller rockers?

Griff 12-06-2001 08:26 PM

JimmyBaja, Yep, thats me. I usually get up to Cottonwood about once a month in the summer. Its a long haul from Bellevue. At the Anchor Inn a lot though. Next summer I'll be in the Pantera I just got, so stop by and introduce yourself. Scott.

JimmyBaja 12-06-2001 09:23 PM

Griff, I understand the Bellevue to Cottonwood trip. I am also at the Bellevue Marina. Got a slip late in the year. I live in Des Moines and drive over for the weekends. Had a hard time locating indoor winter storage, but just got it inside last week.

Griff 12-07-2001 03:33 PM

JB, I was on Pier 5, slip 6 at the marina. Hopefully I'll be able to get a bigger slip this year. If you need storage next year, let me know. A friend of mine does indoor for $40-50 a month and I know of another guy that was 250-300 for the 6 months.

Wardey 12-07-2001 11:24 PM

2000 H2X 454mag first time Baja owner ,might step up in a few month's if stock market stay's strong :)

Griff 12-11-2001 07:05 PM

Stock Market stays stong?????

Allan4 12-11-2001 08:36 PM

All depends where you bought Griff......of course I bought a few years back--AGRESSIVELY-- and am just getting lambasted. Wish I had some $$ in my account, some spectacular buys right now.

Tank, I saw a 30 Eliminator, pulled by a Black Ford Expl with some frickin' unGodly lift on it, Jensen written on the back windows. He was towing the boat pulling out of a gas station onto Pac Coast highway right there in Newport Beach. One of your boys....??

Griff 12-11-2001 11:01 PM

I do agree with it being a great time to BUY,BUY,BUY. Those who do should do very well over the next few years.
