Default couple of ??

First I would like to say, that I appreciate all the info and help people post in this forum.

OK with that said I have a couple of questions about the banana. My first question is how big is the storage compartment behind the bench seat suppose to be? The one on my boat seems to be overkill and a waste of deck space.

Second ? When the boats came from the factory how big of a fuel tank did they have for a twin setup ?

thanks, Keith

Hi Keith,

I would eliminate the entire storage area and push the bench seat back.

I think (2) different size tanks where available. One that just occupied the Cockpit area under the hatch, and the other either went under the bulkhead into the storage area, or was a seperat aft tank.

There was also a third optioin which had a tank in the cabin area.

Hope this helps.

Chris

What you refer to as the storage compartment was actually the engine room in the original design from Cigarette. These boats were sold primarily as sterndrives.

The first boat built that was called a banana was a 24 foot race boat that was rigged for me by Don Aronow at the Magnum plant, which he also owned at the time.

That boat had twin 350 cu in sterndrives and had two fuel tanks. One under the floor of the cockpit and the second up under the deck.

Most sterndrive models had just one tank, a 60 gallon under the cockpit floor from the cabin door to the firewall bulkhead in the rear.

Outboard models had the outboard well cut in the back of the transom and the deck. Later models have been changed to use brackets without any cuts in the original design lines.

Twin outboards that I made just used the 60 gallon tank. They might have changed that when they changed all the other stuff on the later boats.
