Monkey Bizness Update
June is almost over and havent used the boat once yet...
I am coming out of my depression slowly, but I have hope thanks to MrV8outboard.
I am dragging my Banana all the way back to Cape Cod next week because I am afraid to drive it until Jeb tells me it is okay.
The guy I swapped motors with was more than polite. He offered to trade back my Mercury 200 for the giant Johnson and pay for all the shipping...
Although I contemplated it, I would really like to have a V8 outboard.
The original owner is now sending me pretty much another electrical system to replace the power pack that is malfunctioning.
Jeb gave me a prop and a fuel / water seperator that I haven't paid him for yet, thanks for that... and if all goes well I will be on the ocean smashing waves next week.
Photos are coming once I find a scanner.
Thank you Charlie Sr. and Jr. for the T-shirts. The races turned out to be a fun even with out my boat...

Re: Rigging a Banana with a V8 Johnson
Hope you get to use it soon Chris. Sounds like you had some bad luck.
If it makes you feel any better my boat has become hydrphobic as well this season. I planned on taking it for a short jaunt when I was switching trailers. I checked everything and started the motor the night before. All systems go! Hauled it to the water backed her in, lower motor, turn key, I hear it start cranking......... and cranking ....... and cranking........
Ended up just pushing it off the trailer and holding it while we switched trailers. Thank god it was a warm day cause the river was cold. Pushed, pulled, and winched it onto the new trailer and hauled it home.
Backed it in the driveway, and lowered the motor. By now I was totaly soaked and pissed. Hopped up in the boat, hit the key and................ VROOOOOM!!!
Now it sits waiting for me to replace the cross brace and get our just approved mooring in place.
We should both hit the water around the same time!

Still waiting for parts, so another weekend blown.
One thing that is good though, Since my boat doesn't move, I have been fixing all the little projects that I have never had time for over the last 5 years of ownership.
Fruitta, do you have any cockpit photos of your boat that you could post for me? Thanks...
Banana #42 has sold and I am trying to find the new owner so we can stalk him like we do everybody that owns a Banana Boat...

Monkey Bizness Update
Sorry I have been blowing off the Banana Board.
I am currently in Orlando, Florida teaching ground school.
I have only used my boat once and it was only for an hour.
Here is what I have learned.
1. Sit's much lower in the water.
2. 17" of set back is noticeably different.
3. V8's have a sh#tload of torque!
4. Boat goes like hell, but needs tweaking (throttle cable needs adjusting, purge hydraulic lines of some air, install seatbelts, etc)...
For my anniversary, my wife bought me a digital camera, and I bought her a new home computer.
Finally I can start posting photo's instead of just typing junk...
Too bad I'm down here for a week and a half...

I was going to go with the Johnson V-8 on my Pantera but decided not too due to the extra weight.
Hope you get to use it before it gets too cold up there, but if not, just ship it to me in Boca, and i will make sure it gets well taken care of for the winter
