You'll like the platform. It works well when you have to pee...

The next time I'm down to see my Dad, I'm calling for a ride...

Hey Pat,

No work got done this weekend due to many local distractions... but will resume very shortly, and you are welcome for a ride whenever you make it down here to God's Country

Here ya go guys. A couple of long days and this is what we got together...the steering (mostly), the trib tabs and pumps mounted (use a template for anyone doing this in the future, lol ). I pretty much gutted the superboat and we got the gauge wiring harness dismantled and installed along with the pump wiring

ps. Patrick, I renamed your old boat

oh by the way, anyone know how to get an IMCO helm off an older boat ???? My brother and I tried everything to get the outer part (the shaft that the wheel bolts to) disconnected from the inner plate (mounting plate inside the fiberglass that the helm thru bolts to) and nothing seemed to work. I got the inside helm unbolted and disconnected, but cant seem to get the outer piece off. Anyone have any suggestions ????

Looking Good Chad!
That helm was installed in 2000 or 2001 so maybe call IMCO.
You could cut the dash out with the helm in still; then work easier outside the boat.
Last October 20 was an OOPS for sure...

Thanks Pat. I called IMCO and the guy said just spray some wd40 in the seal and the post will slide right out... Thats why we tried to use a wheel puller on it for hours yesterday and there was no "sliding right out" lol !! Oh well, we will keep trying. I thought about just taking a sawsall to it, but it is just as easy to work with it in the boat as it would be outside the boat

Is it the threaded part of the shaft? If so try to piggy back two nuts on the threads and give her a good smack with a brass hammer or dead blow. Boat is coming along nicely.

There is the splined shaft with a backing plate on the inside of the dashboard fiberglass, and on the outside there is a 3" tall stainless flange that thru bolts to the inside helm. Other than that, there is the exterior steering wheel shaft with a keyway in it. underneath that there is a rubber seal with a bearing assembly attached to the shaft. I don't know whether to pound it in toward the inside of the boat, or try to pull it out. Same thing for the inside piece and shaft. I have a pic of the outside of the helm with the wheel still on it if it helps any.

Hey Patrick,

Where did your speedo get its info from? I see the pitot tube connects to the inside of the transom assembly, but did you have something in the drive, or a separate exterior pitot tube to pick up the water for the speedo ???

Why do you want a speedo to tell you 60mph
