Finally got a trailer

1 Attachment(s)
Well, I am officially no longer the most dangerous guy towing a boat.

I am now the proud owner of an aluminum trailer with disc brakes.

Looks great covered in snow... :D

Air Dog 02-27-2005 07:01 PM

By the way, if anybody likes those white PVC goal posts that help you find the trailer when it is submerged, then you can find one of mine off of Route 95 somewhere between Georgia and South Carolina... :D :D :D

Re: Finally got a trailer

Holly Schnikies!
I'd hate to been trailing you when that happened! Sounds like you got a nice trailer. I'd love to have an Al. trailer; maybe someday. The trailer that came with my boat was an old tandem EZ Loader style with the "wobble" rollers. I nixed all the rollers and installed 2 x 12 (actually two 2 x 12s bolted together) bunks on each side which fit just outside the strakes.
21 perfect lauch/ retrieves last season. I don't think you'd need the Goal Posts if the bunk supports are set up correctly.

I was up your way on Saturday. I rode with a friend up to the Boat US (west marine store) in Seabrook to get a fish finder.
I haven't started working on the Banana yet. Can't wait for some nice weather! Snow on the way again.....

Dave

Do you need a new goal post?? Ill Hook you up. :D
Bob

Air Dog 03-01-2005 08:09 AM

Banana's,

Boat US is like 15 minutes from my house. That is a nice trailer you have, I saw it when my brother was looking to buy your boat from Mike (too slow). I like the bunks better than the rollers as well.

Heat Buzz,

You wait here and I'll go get you a nice hot cup of Shut the F#ck Up... :D

BlownIncome,

How is the new job? My last trailer had the PVC markers, but they were rotted off by the time I got the trailer. Instead of fixing them, I through them away. Since then I have always made fun of the goal posts, but maybe I should try them before I rip on them. I have the brackets, but just one pipe...

Re: Finally got a trailer

When are you planing to reload the boat on the new trailer? And whats the plans with the big Johnson?

Air Dog 03-02-2005 05:48 PM

Ya I can't wait to see what my boat looks like on something besides rusted steel.

I am hoping to do it soon, before my new trailer finds its way underneath HeatBuzz's Chris Craft.

Big Johnson? What do you mean?

Re: Finally got a trailer

Well if you don't know anything about it!! All I can say is just like the commercials "What can Brown do for me?" I have a set of feild goal posts I'll trade you!!

Real men take the white poles off - they're for girls. Look on the bright side, your now half a man :D

What brand is it?

Air Dog 03-04-2005 12:01 PM

Re: Finally got a trailer

It's a magic trail / tilt.

I was very happy with the quality. Not only was the price great, but people only had good things to say about them and they had many standard items that were expensive options on others.

I went with the Disc Brakes, the radial tires and the forward bunk bars. My last trailer had no brakes...........

:drink:

Re: Finally got a trailer

Baron 55 or 58?

Nice plane. When I was a charter pilot many years a go, I used to fly around in a Baron with the guy that helped invent the IBM PC.

Restoration of Boats is great because you can do what ever it is that you imagine and do it all yourself. Airplanes are painfully difficult and costly....

Hello Tripps,

Right now there is no mota on my Banana.

However, when I brought my trailer back from Florida, there was a rather large gray thing strapped to the top of it.

blownincome 03-13-2005 05:52 AM

Re: Finally got a trailer

So It wasnt just a trailer trip? :D the Barron Is a 55 I have not seen it yet but he is about 2 months from finish,,

Air Dog 03-13-2005 07:14 AM

Well it started out as a trailer trip, but a fellow bretheren from screamandfly threw me the idea of trading my stock 200hp Mercury for this grey beast that he had.

Great guy, totally hooked me up with a great deal. I loved my mercury, but I have learned a lot about theses giant 4.0 OMC's from MrV8outboard over the years and always wanted to try this set-up.

It's oil injected, but I had it blocked off. I would rather mix the fuel. Oil or fuel injection scares me.

Have you been doing a lot of sno-mo-bealing?

Hey Bob, Where r u heading out to go sledding? I was on the rr bed last night....went from Seabrook station to Portsmouth...all powder, smooth and fast....

Air Dog 03-13-2005 06:05 PM

Bob,

Broken Beers... :D :D :D

Glad you liked that one. We will turn you into a salty sea Captain in no time.

I got that one from the sailboat I race on. The Captain likes to bark out orders to the crew while underway.

"Helmsman!!!"

"Yes Sir Captain Sir"

"This beer is broken!!! Fetch a new one immediatley!!!"

"Yes Sir, right away Sir!" "you no talent ass clown..."

"What was that???"

"Nothing Sir, I said you are the best sailor around..."

"Oh, carry on them..."

Ya, the Captain of the "Eddystone Light" is a real punk that needs to get pistol whipped, but he just bought his first powerboat and he is now on this board, so we will cut him a break...

Right now I am working on breaking this bottle of Captain Morgan Rum... :drink: :drink: :drink:

Air Dog 03-14-2005 03:34 PM

Broken Beers...

She probably thought you meant the glass.

To be safe, you better combine your new saying with a new accent.

Try combining a Pirate with a Canadian tourist.

"AAAArrrrrrrggggghhhhhh, me BEER, she's broken laddy, ehh"

"Moments ago she's full, and now the glass be empty!"

"Be a good mate and fetch me knew....."

Re: Finally got a trailer

I can now say that I can't be called the most dangerous either. I ordered my new trailer Tuesday. I'm driving to FLA to pick it up the first weekend in June. Thanks for all the info Chris. Same thing as yours but the 24-26 version.

Air Dog 05-07-2005 06:36 AM

Thats great Adam!

Did you order it through Boat Tune?

I used my new trailer to go pick up my new, (new to me anyway), race boat that I am going to restore.

I got the 2450 model and it fits perfect. The boat was on jack stands and we loaded it in no time with little adjustments.

Make sure you get a 5 prong wire harness or else you will have trouble backing up with the disc brakes.

If you use speed pass for the tolls, the computer apparently figures out that you are towing a trailer and charges you accordingly. Makes it easier.

fruitta55 05-07-2005 04:23 PM

Re: Finally got a trailer

Yes I did. I went through Tim like you said. And got a great deal on a 2660 with radials, forward bunks, discs on both axles, and a spare tire and hub with mount. Thanks for the plug advice. My truck has the 5 prong already so I should be all set. And the speed pass thing is good to know since I have that as well. The only things I didn't get were the stainless hardware and the LED lights. and still beat the base price of any dealer around here by as little as $1000 and as much as $3000! Well worth the drive in my book. Is your brother back looking yet? I bet he could steal the "Bottoms Up" boat for a decent price since they have been sitting on it for another whole year. Their salesweasle is a Deeck but the yard manager was very interested in moving it and said the price was very negotiable when we looked at it last year. They also told me that they would have it "turn key" when picked up if we bought it. Not pretty but drivable. Or what about Jim Ginetta's "BEEP BEEP" Banana up on Wini? I think he'd let it go for around 10K. I don't know what Ricks budget is though.

Air Dog 05-08-2005 07:03 AM

I thought Jim sold Beep Beep?

fruitta55 05-08-2005 11:29 AM

Re: Finally got a trailer

I'm not real sure. We looked at it Late last season. And he didn't seem to care if it went or not. It may have but I'm not sure. When we looked at it he didn't mention anyone else looking at it. And he got it water worthy just so we could look at it. His place is not really on Winni though its down on Winisquam? I might still have his number if you want to check it out?

Air Dog 05-09-2005 10:31 AM

Ya, that would be great.

Can you e-mail it to me?

I thought he kept "Beep Beep" on Winnipesauke. Somebody had told me they saw it on Winnisquam, so I figured it had been sold.
