Roccard Engines

Just curious if anyone has had any dealings with roccard Engines ? I relied to a post Mike had back in January on some camshafts . I spoke with Mike , agreed on a price and sent him money back Jan/Feb . I spoke with him 2 x since and was told it was shipping . My last 4 calls to him have not been returned .

Does anyone know if he is still in business ?

Thanks

Rocktard emerged here a few years ago claiming to build the finest racing engines, claimed to make 700 plus hp out of a 9.5-1 N/A 454 with run of the mill EDELBROCK heads that had "secret recipe" hand porting and claimed it would idle all day long. This was followed up by a couple of threads with motors with OUTRAGEOUS inflated dyno claims with correction factors that exceeded 20%. He proceeded to build a few engines for fellow OSO'ERS that DID NOT live up to his claims , the few instances I saw and heard about the boats actually went SLOWER and in the case of one member whos user name was NORDIC something or other MR self proclaimed engine expert actually put several sets of lifters in the motors BACKWARDS proving his incompetence and damaging the camshafts. A public battle ensued on this board then the possibility of CRIMINAL fraud charges came up as it was also discovered that parts were RE-USED in the mentioned victims motor that he had been billed and charged for NEW. From what I remember some kind of partial refund was given to avoid a nasty court battle then everthing got real quiet and MR rocktard sorta dissapeared off this board, I figured he was a greeter at Walmart by now, If you get your money back you will be lucky and if you do actually get the cams from him have them checked by a reputable shop to see what they are and if they will actually work from what we have all seen of this guy in the past, Smitty

i spoke with them via email early last week he give me his contact information if im correct its still in my private message sector i could look i guess he seemed like a good fellow is there something to know about the guy. i had been seeking some advice on engine from him, and inquired about some parts. is that not a good thing to do at this point shew i know i cant afford taking another hit.

thaks let me know

nitrousnolan 04-03-2011 07:28 PM

He came to the Swmap Run last year and rode with Custom29Scarab, seemed like a nice guy but don't really know him. I think Bill "Custom29Scarab" has contact info for him.

Philm 04-04-2011 06:44 AM

I bought some XR gears off him last year. Seemed to be a nice guy, went out of his way to meet me so I could pick up the gears instead of having them shipped. :drink:

He is avoiding you over $150??? Seems strange for a business to avoid your contact over relatively small money. Maybe health issues..?? I hope you get resolution.

custom29scarab 04-08-2011 07:57 PM

Mike seems like a good guy. Hopefully this a misunderstanding that can be respectfully resolved.

Smitty,
Know the facts before you make a claim like this !!!!!! Nothing was ever reused and no one was eve given less than they expected. I can not and will not engage in a argument with someone who is not competent of how a dyno works functions or corrects to the SAE number. We are still making boats fast, making HP and have a long list of happy returning customers.

I'm not avoiding anyone .....I've been on the road the last 2 wks and alot for the last 3 months. No one ever has or is getting screwed. No Worries

Chip, I am glad to hear all went well with your trip, and meeting my guy to pick things up.

brian41 04-10-2011 03:49 PM

Mike I see you sell a lot of items here and you admit to being in the boat engine business........why then no advertiser status?

You have your business name under site name and no advertiser status not even a paying member. Do you own the site or made a deal somewhere that I missed out on?

Pete280 04-10-2011 07:17 PM

4 calls not returned must of been a hell of a road trip, gotta love people that cant return simple phone call, it's spring time and I'm assuming he wants the cam to get his engine back together.

Indy 04-10-2011 08:34 PM

I just don't get how in this day and age people are unable to conduct business or even unable to communicate with customers. I conduct business at all hours via text, email, or phone with my smart phone. Even when I'm away I'm in communication with my clients, no doubt it's a royal pain in the a$$ and down time is harder and harder to come by with technology the way it is but that's the game in today's business environment.

I got no dog in this fight but sheesh...

innerrage 04-10-2011 09:33 PM

i guess he does not care about is reputation then since the guy with the cams races in the opa and has 1000's of fans and friends that race with them all summer. if i was in his shoes i would over night the cams with his money back.

Do I need to post the pictures of the lifters you put in backwards, the cams that got ate up or the used 502 pistons that were supposed to be new?? I kinda remember the big dyno claim argument, you dynoed a motor in April or May with a ambient outside temp of 67 degrees but had a correction factor over 20%, your BSFC numbers show ACTUAL observed hp (if you know how to do the math), oh but wait, you claimed the fuel meter was off, when I questioned you on your severely inflated correction factor your answer was you were pulling hot attic air into the motor thus the high intake temp, you have a excuse for everything!
You bought the guy off to shut him up but not before EVERYBODY got to see the pics and hear the story. Alot of us were here when you emerged with your outrageous claims and alot of us stayed when you quietly slinked away and STILL remember!

After the last go around, he was BARRED from being a advertiser.

Airpacker 04-11-2011 06:49 AM

Wait just one second here. Somehow , while "on the road for the last two weeks" he can do a deal on a trailer for 3500.00 but in the last few MONTHS he cannot close a deal on a 150.00 camshaft?

How exactly does an engine builder make a living "on the road" and not in a machine shop?

Someone pass the hip waders.

Wonder if it's actually "his" shop, or a family members...

"no worries"
Typically that means proceed with extremem caution when someone needs to add that has a final statement..... Just sayin.

UMMM.
Were not living in the stone age. Being on the road as you say say's to me your full of excuses and one should worry about dealing with you.

verbi69 04-11-2011 12:19 PM

Hmm, cell phone, blackberry, iphone and now the ipad.
Email does work at all times of the day, or night for that matter.
They still make quarters that still work in payphones.
Just sayin'.

innerrage 04-11-2011 03:35 PM

i have a idea start a new reality show about scumbags who burn people for there hard earned money. just show up at thier business with a cameria and put them on the spot with the camera . then put the footige on you tube

Velocity Vector 04-11-2011 06:11 PM

You guy's give him a break, when he is on the road he's hitchicking, without a phone. Why would anyone "worrie" about not getting a $150.00 cam anyway? You know he has to buy shoes with all that road tripping he does. I wish I had his address, I would like to send him some money too. Maybe enough to walk off the face of the earth.

kreed 04-11-2011 07:54 PM

I figured there would be a thread about this guy somewhere on here. I almost bought a set of SM manifolds from this guy, LUCKILY FOR ME, he excepted my offer, but sold them to someone else anyway! I am glad I didnt send him any money.

Fast Shafts 04-15-2011 01:27 PM

OK, now that its been a week since it was "shipped", did Jerry get his cam???

Jmemoli 04-15-2011 02:13 PM

:eek:No it has not yet arrived .

Fast Shafts 04-15-2011 02:36 PM

Jerry-thats hardley a surprize....

MASOMAN 04-15-2011 03:06 PM

roccard

This BOZO screwed me around for about a month after taking my money for a intake manifold , he should put down the crack pipe or what ever he's doing and take care of his business .

Pete280 04-15-2011 04:32 PM

no worries

innerrage 04-15-2011 05:12 PM
