speed with zt 260

Anybody running a ZT 260 with around 700 hp? If so what kind of numbers are you getting.

i have 375. lol
i would love to have 700 tho!!!!!!!

any photos?

i would have to guess 700 hp would push that boat in the high 80's proped right

525 pushes 70 ish, 375 pushes mine 62 ish

CAB 02-12-2010 06:46 PM

No pictures yet. In the building process. Should be finished in about 5 or 6 weeks. Going with a 588 ci fuel injected tall deck, ITS gimble, xr drive with -2 sportmaster.

PURPLE HORNET 02-13-2010 02:16 AM

True 700hp with higher Torque numbers than 700 ballpark 81mph. What are you thinking

mookymonkey 02-13-2010 04:43 AM

i would say 80+ is realistic. im pushing 560 hp and running 74 with the right prop. don't forget its a lake boat though.. ;) mark

CAB 02-13-2010 09:25 AM

I'm hoping for 85+. Going with the shorty, may be hoping for to much.

CAB 02-13-2010 09:28 AM

Checkmate said that boat with a stock XR drive would be in the high 70s with a 525 mercury racing engine right out of the box with 80 not being out of the question.

i estimated my 242/260 convincor at 650-675hp and it ran 83 gps
550hp at motor not prop ran at 73 gps

i think your 85 should be no problem.:evilb:

You better do some good research before you go with that shorty. Checkmate only research you might be hurting more than you are helping

CAB 02-13-2010 05:08 PM

The shorty was part of the deal with the drive. I am aware that I may have to add a spacer. Just have to see when we get it in the water.

CAB 02-16-2010 04:36 PM

Should be done within the next 6 weeks. I will post the numbers as sone as I get them.

PURPLE HORNET 02-16-2010 05:04 PM

What engine are you running

CAB 02-19-2010 08:07 PM

Do you mean now, or what we are building?

CAB 02-21-2010 07:53 PM

Well, we just pulled out a 496HO. It was 68 mph with a 26 bravo 1 4 blade. We are in the process of building a 588 ci fuel injected engine. Merlin tall deck block, Brodex aluminum heads, crower crank and rods. It will be a nice combination when we get through. The carberated version of this engine made 750 hp and 780 ft lbs. It remains to be seen if this will remain the same with the fuel injection.

PURPLE HORNET 02-22-2010 11:23 AM

What rpm's were you turning to get 68 with a 26p prop

noyzee 02-23-2010 04:57 PM

what did you do with the ho? any info on it?

CAB 02-23-2010 08:32 PM

Was turning 4800 with the 26 pitch. The HO is for sale. 8500 with stainless marine exhaust. The boat with HO ran 65 with 24 bravo 1 at 4800. Put the stainless marine exhaust on and it went to 68 hitting rev limiter. Changed to 26 ran 68 at 4800.

noyzee 02-24-2010 12:17 PM

how many hours etc on the motor? what year is the motor?
all stock, untouched besides pipes?

CAB 02-26-2010 07:18 PM

It is a 2003, 175 hrs., and all stock except the pipes.

noyzee 02-27-2010 06:21 PM

i was poking around for parts, but not much luck.
the porting would pick up big, i know what it does to big blocks we build for cars!!

Call Scott at Speed and Custom Marine in Quincy, FL. Phone number 850-875-0381. He has a 496 HO that was ran hot and blown up. Maybe some parts you can use. Tell him Craig gave you his number.

thanks for the info.

all i need is cam and computer?

zt260 03-22-2010 02:05 PM

My first engine in the ZT260 was a whippled 502 that made 760Hp on 93 octane and 800Hp on 110 octane. Top speed with 760Hp was 87mph and 90mph with 800HP. This was with a standard length mercury sportmaster 1.35 ratio and a bravo 26 pitch.

Hope that helps.

Been a while. Motor dynoed at 635hp/650ft lbs. torque. -2 shortie works well. 5000 rpms at 79 mph with 1.36 xr drive stock out of the box bravo 1 26. These numbers were disappointing due to cam selection mostly. So now M3 Procharger on the way.

CAB 04-11-2011 08:32 PM

First run with pro charger was 90 mph. Only made 2.5 lbs boost. Ordering new pulley to get it to 5lbs. Not a bad run for 2.5 lbs.

boatn70 04-12-2011 07:34 AM

find out the pulley measurement

i believe i have a procharger pulley that was good for 7psi on my m1 i had. i will have to look and measure it. if you can find out what measurement you need i will check mine. will let it go cheap!! it is a 12 rib pulley. i will check diameter also

you can email me at maurer70 at sbcglobal.net if youd like.

just an offer to help.....:drink:

CAB 04-13-2011 05:23 PM

Was not bad. You have to drive it but it is not stupid. We will see with the 5lbs of boost.
