Default Need help with my new boat please

Well, I just bought a 2000 checkmate 259 convincor and took it out for the 1st time this week end. Its got the 502 magnum 415hp motor and a mirage 25p 3 blade prop. I was very disappointed in the performance. Everytime you take off and its starts to plane off the prop slips/cavitates and you have to back the throttle down then get back into it. secondly its only pulling about 4300rpm to. It seams very slow from a dead stop. Is this a problem with the prop? what do you guys recommend? any help

4300 rpm is low for a 502 in that boat , switching to a 4 blade will end that blowing out and cavitation
i would say 25 pitch on a 3 blade and 24 on a 4 blade should get you more then 4300 on that boat , unless your luggin around some serious weight , do you have a gps to figure out what speed your going? also make sure your not dragging tabs , i'v had that cause the prop to blow out and will also limit your top end , are you getting it trimmed up and out of the water well?

Just 2 people in the boat and 1/2 tank of fuel. As soon as it starts planing off i'm trimming it up but the boat likes to porpose then. trim tabs are set out in the middle i found it to be the smoothest ride there. I got a 24 coming from a memeber that was nice enough to help me out and trade him for mine

You made sure the trailer wasn't still attached, right?

A 24p Bravo 1 or Hydromotive should do the trick. My boat likes the B1.

I say a 22p Bravo 1 stock 4 blade on a 415 horse 253 I think a 24 might be a bit much.

I am running a 24p Bravo 1 with my 253 (454 mag 350 hp) Think a 22p would work better for me?
