Need more power!
We took the boat out over the weekend and we need more power. What is a safe number for TRS/BW??? right now we are around 400HP. I can easily go to 650 with a few change's. Is that to much for TRS/BW or do I need to buy a set of Konrads?? or what??

a TRS with a BW is pretty common in hopped up 502 setups. I have even seen them behind a 502 with a Whipple. So I would think you would be okay in the 750 - 800 hp range. I would just run them till I started having problems.

They will be fine with 600-700 hp as long as you don't club the hell out of them,we ran 650 HP through my friends Formula for years with no issues ever.

i belive the 245ltd guys are very wrong when they say Trs will be fine at 600-800hp... Contact a Konrad dealer ore try to find SSM3A drives.. Ask some BW-shop to put some extra disc in your transm. I would go 540 or 572's if I was you. Good luck! Mange

I have been boating for a long time and have a ton of friends with bigger faster boats, The 311 Formula I am looking at buying from a friend has had TRS drives with 650 HP for 7 yrs now with no failures!!!
I also have a friend that had a 312 Stinger with similar power, you do need the extra discs, that is true but the drives themselves will handle it, much better then a Bravo.
I know there are way better upgraded drives but that might not be in his budget, he asked if the TRS will hold up and they will as long as they are not beat to death with launching the boat all the time in and out of the water.

245 limited, chill. For a few years ago I also run a 245ltd...with a bigblock... :-) I dont say you dont know! But I say Trs with strong engines ina big/heavy boat are a bad combo. I have also alot of friend who run trs... Last week one of the guys with 50 Meteor trip 454/500hp had his right drive broke at 3600rpm. The week before a 32 Excalibur had a trs breake down. Its so many Trs brake down here in Sweden so I belive preowned trs-drives are very hard to find here now. One friend with a 39 HighTech just orderd Konrads to replace his Trs. Sorry! Mange
