Hey guys, just picked up a bullit, 1988. Could some one email me a copy of an owners manual also I am at [email protected]. I would appreciate it as cigarette was not helpful. I am in miami any one down here? I am about to do a total refit, in and out one step at a time. Started striping her down this week. Owned 28', 33' and 35 and dieing to see how this will handle when done. Right now all options are on the table. Thanks will post pictures when I get to a point.
|
I e-mailed you the manual and wiring diagram, hope they help.
|
Thanks for info
Thanks, it was most helpful. As I said I still can't believe it weighs 9500 pounds. That is more then the 35 mistress. The wire diagram cleared up a few things. Funny how one request on the forum gave me all the info needed when even cigarette or the dealers I asked couldn't do. Again thanks.

Glad I could help, please post some pictures when you get a chance.

Has anyone ever ran 2 inch shorties on a Bullet with standard Bravo setup?
|
Well I guess I will hear a bunch of crazy remarks but I decided to convert the bullit to outboards. I am going to take out the gimbles close in the transom, put a bracket on the back, take out the seat and move it back to the transom, fill in the engine area with deck and side storage and try to find a pair of 300 outboards. It will take out approx 2000 pounds and give me decent speed. Ok, give me the comments.
|
You might be better off selling the Bullet and buying and buying something else. I would think you would have a hard time selling that at a later date? Just my 2 cents.
If you decide to go through with it Good Luck with the project Can you post up some pic's would like to see what your working with |

On the other part.....mom always said if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it. :) Buck |
I would agree it's not a great idea. I would be quite surprised if there's a 2,000 lb weight difference, and even if there were, the boat would still be a pig with OB's. As mentioned, you'd have to give away an OB Bullet should you decide to sell it. I'd sell the boat as is and buy an OB boat if that's the direction you want to go.

An outboard converted Bullet? No thanks !

Outboards on bullet
I agree, outboards on a cigarette would be almost a sin. I have converted a few 28's to outboards and you would be surprised on how well it worked. I tried to post a response but it didn't take so I will try again. First thanks for the spelling correction being from ny we spell like it sounds, bad. The "approx 2000 pounds" I may never get to but the engines, drives, hatch and assembly, gimbles, strainers, trim motors etc. (except for engines are for sale), back seat will come close. The boat had too little cockpit space with no room for the amount of family and friends that I boat with not to mention coolers and dive stuff. Opening up the engine area will give me plenty more room plus storage on both sides in the engine area. My 33' with two 225 optimax did close to 55mph this should be in the 60's. That's fast enough for me. Resale will be another issue not many would think about outboards on this boat but I had no problem selling the other ones. South Florida has an outboard mentality. On the other hand this will be my last boat because of my age so I am not going to worry about it as I paid less then the price of the trailer for it. They don't seem to hold their value. If I can't sell it I will strip it, chain saw the boat and sell the parts. I when complete with new engines still have less then what they are going for Invested, so I will enjoy I will miss the roar of the engines, but, not the maintenance, bellows, fan belt problems half way to the Bahamas, rust, risers, get the idea what salt water does. I completely understand everyone's thoughts and welcome them but when you see the completed projected you may understand why, keep the comments coming. I will post pictures as soon as I learn how.

email me the pics i will post them for ya

I don't think your going to be in the 60''s with a pair of 225's. These are very heavy, slow hulls.
|
Ok will send them tomorrow thanks
|
No 225's won't do it, the first post said 300's

I thought I recognized that boat, it's the one that Pier 57 had for a while. They pulled sold it without power.
|
Yup, that is the one. Now it sits in my yard in south miami. I will say one thing cigarette sure knows how to build a boat it is a tug boat. Every thing I take out seem to weigh more then me. Getting to old for this. I am hoping to be finished by summer so I can hit abaco.
|
Clyde, contact me about what you need I have everything but engine and drives. The boat is striped now and transom is plugged. Going to put the gimble assembly up for sale next week but still have them and every thing else. I just scraped out the black parelli (sp) rubber glued in mat with circles like bingo chips. I don't know you guys up north boat but 2 minutes in the Florida sun with that would burn your feet so bad. Another 30 or 40 pounds I didn't need. Just picked up the upholstery that lines the dash and hatch also the new dash panel in all white with lighted switches. Will start sanding both dash sides to the deck next week and paint it off white awlgrip. Also took out a five gallon bucket of extra wire. Took out steering i may have to do some mods to allow for hydraulic steering due to the helm pump, we shall see. Still can't figure out how to post or I would show more results to all. I am starting to see some ideas come to life but still have so much more to do.

til you do just email them to me i will post them for ya. i love build threads

This reminds me of a Bullet in CT. that had 2 blower 502's with 150 HRS on the boat. The guy was a Merc rep and got a deal on 2 300HP 350's.......for some crazy reason, he did the switch and the boat went from 82 MPH to 66ish MPH.......what a waste!!!!!!!
|
Wow if I could get 66 ish I would jump for joy I was thinking only 62 without fine tuning, tops. The transom is supported, transom painted and bracket for engines is installed. Now working on new deck where engine was. What a difference when the back is all opened and you have so much more space.

Well while waiting for engines to come in and the upholstery to be finished I went and started the dreaded "head project". It wasn't that bad a job it took only two hours and would have been less if I had some replacement hoses that were kinked. I started by taking the storage area cap off I think only six screws. Right below was the pump motor, out it came. Then went to the macerator which was under the starboard seat and took it and the y valve off. Now Remember I went into this with just replace all attitude. I thought the water pump was bad as when I pushed the start up button nothing happened and the lights dimmed. I got it on the work bench and found that the pump was frozen and when freed up everything worked, that saved $100. At least. The macerator had to be changed and when taking it out the flange broke on one side. Went up to the store and got a new motor but they no longer have the same y valve it was discontinued. This one is bigger and wider so if you are going to do this project try to save the valve I made the adjustments added some new hose and all is well. Engines will be in next week and soon as we can get it into the shop they will be installed. The upholstery should be done and installed in three week period. I will be on the water in the middle of august. A little longer then I expected but finally done wit most all but the interior. I did order the material for it today but not in such a rush to stop me from using the boat. By end of august all should be done. Going to make reservations in the Bahamas for Labor Day.

Sounds like you everything is starting to come together for you. Can't wait to see the finished product.
