I really liked the boat. The paint looked good. I thought the dash paint could have been done better. Looked like the trim was painted on in a few places.

Overall, nice boat! Congrats! Keep us posted on how it performs and holds up. It'll help in my boat research. :D

Oh, and I wanna know gps top speed! lol

If the survey goes well, I'll be able to tell you in a few weeks, [I won't start high speed runs until I get comfortable with the boat.], but should be buying on Friday!

carter38 11-02-2007 01:10 PM

Nice not a problem.

DealmakerC6 11-04-2007 12:41 AM

I finally bought one! Bit the "Bullet"! Drove it this morning at LOTO, still havent gotten the smile off my face! Thanks to all you guys that anwered an FNG's questions! They're delivering the boat on Tues or wed. Dont know if I can go that long without sleep...

carter38 11-04-2007 12:21 PM

Congrats!

Steve_H 11-04-2007 02:51 PM

congrats. your going to love the boat :cool-smiley-027:

5050 11-04-2007 04:55 PM

congrats. best boat for price bar none. you'll love it.

Hollowpoint 11-07-2007 11:57 AM

Congrats, you can't go wrong with a Cig! Other boats may may be able to pass you in calm seas, but when it gets serious, you can wave to them as you pass them :)

DealmakerC6 11-08-2007 12:14 AM

Thanks,
Weather started cooling off today, bummer. theyre delivering on Friday now, still planning on going out on Sat, Ill probably be the only nut on the water, but dont think i can wait.

Hollowpoint 11-08-2007 07:17 AM

Cooler means faster speeds :)

DealmakerC6 11-08-2007 10:53 AM

True, last time i was on a fast[ish] boat in cold weather was in your part of the world-[read: horizontal snot-sicles]. btw-is Hammerheads and the Raven still open on the strip? [Atlantic Ave] Havent been up there in awhile, used to live near Lynnhaven.

Hollowpoint 11-08-2007 12:48 PM

The Raven is still there. Icon of 30-40 years!
Not sure if Hammerheads is still there. I've never been there even though I do know where it is.

DealmakerC6 11-10-2007 10:18 PM

Got the Cig in the water for the first time[as the owner], they're a little rare here- had 3 cars stop and bs at the gas pumps. Ran great, a few of the gauges that worked at LOTO didnt work today, kept an eye on the ones that did, and had a great [half] day, got caught in scattered showers. New trailer worked well, we're cleaning her stem to stern tomorrow. Sending the cushions to the upholstery shop in the next few weeks [planning on waiting until it turns colder], read the thread about the Cigarette patches and logos, anybody got a jpg? Best gauges-Livorsi? Havent done any research yet, also thinking of replacing the compass with a chartplotter-has anybody done that, there is really no sheltered place for a gps, unless Im really missing something-Any advice would be helpful!

Hollowpoint 11-11-2007 09:58 AM

Funny you should say change out the compass with a chartplotter. That's also on my wish list, but way down the line. There was a thread on here that has done that and it really looked clean. Do a bullet search here and you should find it.

carter38 11-11-2007 03:40 PM

I am puttin my gps where the compass is flushed in.

Hollowpoint 11-12-2007 06:43 AM

That's not the thread I was talking about even though it was a good one. Keep looking, it's there somewhere.

DealmakerC6 11-17-2007 12:17 PM

Ok, The expedition has NOTHING for this boat! Going look at superdutys, the cabin redo mya have to wait till spring.:hitfan:

My Suburban really doesn't tow mine very well. I wouldn't want to take it long distances. It's definately a 10,000+ lb load with boat, trailer, fuel and gear!

Is your 'burban a 1500 or 2500? I've been Bullet shopping for a few weeks now, and my 1/2 ton Dodge which I ordered in '05 to tow 8700 lbs is a concern.

Congrats on the new ride. I looked at that boat at the end of summer. It was super clean. I also liked the full cover that was on it. I thought the salesman told me he had a spare set of gauges ??? May be that was a different one. At one time last summer, there were at least 4 Bullets for sale at LOTO!

:ernaehrung004:

Hollowpoint 11-18-2007 08:58 AM

It's a 1/2 ton and max load listed is like 8600lb. You can by a 10,000lb hitch that will fit and replace the springs with 3/4 ton and better shocks.

Not the best solution, but better than a new tow vehicle. I also live like 10 minutes away from where I put over most of the time.

Screamineagle 11-18-2007 09:16 AM

I too will not be towing too far to splash the boat and the cost of a

new truck is not that much less than a Bullet! For now I will save

that money for fuel.

My g/f's '99 5.4 Expedition is very unimpressive for pulling. I got tired of the 1/2 ton sh*t and bought a 1-ton Ford V10 van. I don't think it pulls like an F-series diesel, but it's getting the job done for now with my 21' toy hauler heading to the races. It's gonna have its limits with a boat, though. Probably have to stop at 31' for towing, and a Bullet would be a stretch for it, IMO.

Glad to hear that boat is going well! I too thought the ower said it had extra gauges with it, but maybe I'm smoking crack on that one. Send us pics of the updates. I'm glad to hear the boat is tight. You gonna worry about the crack in the deck or are ya gonna leave it?

Calling a gel coat guy on Monday, got the towing situation figured out, didnt like any of the used trucks, bought an 08 chevy 3/4 ton diesel 4wd, figured that could still get me off a slick ramp, and seems to tow the boat easily. Anybody in the market for an 97 expedition or 02 jaguar s-type? putting them up this week-cheap. Livorsi got me a quote on the gauge panel and gauges, making rounds at the local marine shops, i wish i could find someone who didnt look surprised when i told them what i wanted them to work on! Were having a cold spell, so its a good time to get some maintenance and updating done on the boat, but if my wife sees the checks im gonna write for some of this stuff, i may be living in the bullet!

Hollowpoint 11-26-2007 04:16 PM

BTW. On an older topic, did anyone (Klaw maybe?) start a Bullet or Cig spreadsheet to try and list all that can be found of the 68 or so that were made? It would be a nice little winter project.

Hollowpoint 12-06-2007 02:32 PM

OK, I guess no one wants to volunteer to put it together. I'll go ahead and step up to the plate. When/If each of you has a few minutes, could you please send me the following info via PM on this website? I'll put it together onto a spreadsheet with links to photos. It would be interesting to have the info in a single place to seek info or to talk to a "Bullet Buddy".

Any name you chose (real or nickname) but prefer real
email address
General boating area (ie Keys, LOTO, Hampton Roads, etc)
Phone Number (optional)
HIN number
year
power
drives
props
Speed
Mods and or upgrades
1 to 3 pics of boat (Claymates accepted) :)

I do not plan to put the info on this or any site, but provide each Bullet owner a copy if desired. I, for one, would like to see how close to 68 we can get! Anyone interested?

Start sending!

Hollowpoint 12-06-2007 03:04 PM

Nice looking boat. I love the classic paint lines. I'm not really keen on the paint jobs of newer boats that look like a LSD trip.

Also a beautiful backdrop behind the boat!

PM me your info

Hollowpoint 12-17-2007 08:58 AM

TTT

OK guys....Winter is already going slow enough that the Cig forum here needs to pick up more. I've only gotten a couple of responses to the info that I was requesting from all Bullet owners. Come on and show some Bullet Spirit. Give me something to do or it's going to be one long-ass winter!

I'm still planning to make the info into a spreadsheet in an effort to complete as much of the production history of the Bullets. I plan to make it available to only Bullet owners that request it and are on in the database.

Please provide the following via pm or email:

How's that new boat runnin' ? :boat: Been able to put much time on her ? Any luck on the gel work? That rig might have been the buy of the decade. A very nice boat.

Splashed the boat once since i got her, brought her in for oil change, lower unit, impellers, etc. Figured winter was starting, shouldve known better- its 74 degrees today. I promised myself i wasn't going to take her out again until the new guages are in, but i dont know if i have the willpower. Havent touched the gel coat though, engine maintenance, guages and new cabin upholstery are ahead. So far, nothing unexpected.

Hollowpoint 12-19-2007 01:07 PM

You could really help some of us older Cig project boat owners by posting project pics and ballpark prices thru the winter as you get mods done and what problems you have. I wish our weather was still at 74. I'm jonesn' for a boat fix and winter has barely started! On my long list, I have new gauges and upholstery work also. Right after indicator cables, props and hopefully external steering.

You should plan a summer vacation up this way around one of our poker runs :)
Cigs are usually well represented, but I'm the only Bullet.

DealmakerC6 12-19-2007 11:33 PM

The wife has taken only a few pics of the boat since we got it, but as soon as we get the boat out of the shop ill post a few before pics. Having the oil changed in the engines [royal purple], ive never used that stuff before, but the mechanic swore by it, gear lube in the lower unit, impellers, apparently i had torn up the bearings in the water pump, so theyre putting in a new water pump, macerator pump, all the filters, and a complete "once over" its running between 1800-2000. The Livorsis with a new dash panel are going to run 2500-3000. Still waiting on an upholstery quote, I have to sell a few more houses before i can get the upholstery done!
Im planning to head to the LOTO shootout with the boat next year, might be able to get back to VA beach late summer or so. I'll post pics as the updating continues, I wish i had the time to do more of the stuff myself.

I realy liked this dash layout on my old Bullet..The monster guages are much easier to read on the fly. I had a CPS speado but would use a GPS instead if i did another.
And YES you are over 10k towing these things. A Bullet is a HUGE 31 footer...Enjoy !

Including mine....well, let me see.....I think I've got about......wait, I've got to count them....3 !!! Including mine!

COME ON GUYS, SEND ME THE INFO!!!!

I was hoping for more interest in this. Over the next few weeks, I plan to try and personally search this site and send out some PM's to known owner's requesting the info.
