bmanafort 03-05-2009 06:56 PM

I just dealt with it selling the Mystique. A lot of great serious buyers but also a lot of bull sh-t callers/emailers. Same deal, "will you take x for your boat". I could tell you that when I wanted my Gladiator I wrote a check along with an offer. Before that when I wanted my mystique I made an offer with a check than too.

joefitness123 03-05-2009 07:17 PM

Bma, thats the way you buy a boat..I have done the same all along..If I really want the boat 5-10k here or there doesn't make the difference..Juts spoke to the x owner of your boat..Great guy..I bought mine a little higher than the others and love the boat like crazy..thats why I won't give it away..put the money on the table and then we can talk..

joefitness123 03-05-2009 07:18 PM

bring that thing down to SOUTH FLORIDA for a ride...

bmanafort 03-05-2009 07:30 PM

joefitness,
are you looking to get out of boating or get into something different?

BINGO !

Not if your a real buyer with the $ & that's the boat you want.

If I wanted it..... I wouldn't anyone else to get it before me.

When I bought my F-2 Cig I paid 5k more than the last bidder & got to enjoy it for two years...Whats that worth ?...A LOT !

Enjoy now.......Your dead along time !

joefitness123 03-05-2009 08:45 PM

Bma, no sir...looking for a 42 or 46 if I can move mine right...Lucky Strike, I agree with you on that...living life is priceless...Because tomm. is never guaranteed...

Cash Bar 03-05-2009 09:22 PM

Today I was offered a boat I absolutely LOVE and have been dreaming about for a long time. The price I was offered is UNBELIEVABLE for this boat.

And some of you would STILL say I overpaid. Nevermind that it's my DREAM to own it, that I am going to do EVERYTHING I can to put it together before it sells to someone else.

That to me means more than somebody telling me that I paid $1k or $100k too much. I won't put a price on getting what I WANT ....

you guys are funny.. the last five boats i bought were all over 100k ..most a lot more.. never put a penny with an offer.. I do go look at the boat..sometimes thousands of miles... if that dont show enough interest to him (owner) screw him!!!! they will always be more..

38 hustler 388 2005
38donzi zrc 2005

all with no deposit.. but oh yea im a prop spinner...
even though I can bet i bought & sold more boats than most (if not all) on this thread..(personal boats)

so go brag on how good you guys are buying & selling boats..

most dont have a clue...:party-smiley-004:

on a side note.. if i want a boat could i spend 5-10 k more sure i could. but i learn a long time ago not to let my emotions get in the way .. I will not over pay for something just because i want it.. then loose my ass on the other end when i go to sell it... I dont like loosing, just me i guess.. again people with a ton of money can do it & dont give a flying crap..& usually feel the same way about the boat...

carry on

pm203 03-05-2009 10:44 PM

Dreamer,
I would have to say I agree and disagree with you. I have been in certain situations trying to acquire certain things and always looking for the "safe" deal or the "too good to pass up deal" and alot of times I ended up without anything. Nobody needs a performance boat and lets face it, as much as you don't want it to be an emotional purchase, it almost always ends up to be emotional. I don't blame anyone for waiting in todays market, but very rarely will you get a beautiful boat for a give away price or too good to pass up price. Sometimes, you just have to pay a little more than your conservative side will allow. And, if you can't get emotional about it, you don't deserve the boat. I can remember how upset you were when you lost that deal on the Glad and I am sure Jeff goes to bed at night thinking about what he could see himself running in this summer. Keep looking for the right deal, but if anything is even close, go for it. Life is too short to worry about a little depreciation on something that can bring you alot of joy. And,........ its good for the economy, or whats left of it. :D

I listen to everyone here talk about the boats they missed out on. My point is that if you want a boat badly enough than you have to show your serious. Like the saying goes "money talks and bullsh-t walks". If you dont leave deposits than thats your thing but dont get upset when the deal passes you by. And if you think your comment on owning more boats than most of us makes you a better man you are mistaken. Just to check your ego,

2001 35 fountain 500's
2002 29 fountain 350's
2002 42 fountain 575's
2000 30 mystique 500's
2003 36 gladiator 525's
oh yeah, and I am 30 years old so when I am your age we could check back in with each other to compare lists again.

joefitness123 03-06-2009 06:59 AM

BMA,

Nice stable of boats..You are well on your way to happiness..Boating is an addiction and to own one that you enjoy is priceless..But, point well made...If serious, put up the Bucks and then we can Talk..:ernaehrung004:

so let me get this stright, your not showing anyone your boat or talking price intill they put up a deposit? ? ?

joefitness123 03-06-2009 09:34 AM

One can see the boat and discuss anything they want..Once we get the deposit, than we will fine tune the #'s...

Can't argue there. You have definitely bought & sold more boats in the last few years than most. I'm not exactly sure what that proves, other than you've yet to find one you like well enough to keep around? Or, the ones you've really liked weren't the kind of deals you like well enough to pursue?

Every boat I've had has been exactly what I wanted at the time, or I wouldn't have ever pursued them. I don't enjoy boats just for the sake of buying & selling them. I have to REALLY like whatever boat I'm looking at before I will waste a second of time finding out about it. That said, I won't let it get away over a few grand here & there.

You should make a run at the Performance Group Maximus at Hideaway. I'm sure Hideaway, as well as the current owner would entertain some lower offers that they originally shunned.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of that boat as well.

If it wasn't essentially exactly like a cat, minus the added speed & rough water handling, I would have probably ended up with it a couple of years back. It was near the top of my short list at the time. To me, it's the perfect setup for a sit down Vee.

joefitness123 03-06-2009 11:26 AM

I've been watching this one as well..It is one of my favorite boats..It's been in there hands for a bit and I continue to look at it every chance I get...That is the ultimate Sit Down V...Maybe soon one of us can enjoy it for a long time...:ernaehrung004:

The history was mainly just the fact the PG guys went under though. They ran the boat at all of the poker runs, and it ran great. It went overseas briefly, and now is back. The only bad things I've heard about it, came from other dealers wanting to sell one of their own boats, therefore talked down on the Max. :party-smiley-004::drink:

Yes, Yes,..it does have a history..But the damn thing is nice as H@#$...and if i could get my hands on it, I would be all over it..I would put some history on this thing myself...Thanks, for the ups on it though...Damn, that thing is nice..what are the #'s on this thing MPH...

I've heard 120ish. I have no idea what to believe since all of the speed numbers I've heard came from the people trying to sell it. :readinghelp:

Worst case scenario, you buy it "cheap", and do the rebuild on the 1075's for piece of mind. Once that's done, there's nothing else to worry about besides having a total blast with it. :ernaehrung004:
