There is no recourse on a repo. If it runs OK and he is having a good time, who cares. Hopefully he got it for a good number.
For what it's worth, if it was my friend I would certainly tell him about the history of his boat. He will find out through word of mouth eventually. It's no biggy and the longer that he has the boat with no issues (such as electrical and mold) the less impact it will be on resale. Did he get it surveyed???
