Parts are starting to show up from Bob Madara from Marine Kinetics!! http://www.marinekineticsonline.com
Bob Spec'd all the valve train parts!! The Custom Cams should be in next week :evilb: All the valve train components from Bob! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps386e02d1.jpg Isky 9000 Series Valve Springs http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps50a1a276.jpg Morel 4603 Hyd Roller Lifters - (Cam Motion) http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8334b7a7.jpg Pac Racing 10 Degree Light Weight Chromoly Retainers http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...pse434c879.jpg Pac Racing 10 Degree Chromoly Locks & Comp Cams Valve Seals! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5173f05f.jpg |
Few pics from tonights session!
Blowers apart clean and ready for new bearings & Seals http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps62334c73.jpg New Bearings/Seals and Teflon Strips. (Before you get gung ho about replacing your strips you have to have a way to turn the teflon down to get .005" clearance from the rotor to the case) http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps263cc448.jpg New Gaskets http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psb1e1e1e0.jpg |
Blower cases look brand new still!!
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psb43bb206.jpg The only parts (besides bearings) that needed to be replaced were the couplers.. I bought new ones from the blower shop. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps95ba3f31.jpg New Couplers http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0648a032.jpg |
Rebuilt the Snout with new bearings and seals!
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4f1b075e.jpg New Blower Bearings & Seals installed. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps12445a79.jpg Rotors installed http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5e8a3473.jpg Bearings Retainers http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps670716eb.jpg Pay attention to this shim and what rotor it is on. This shim fine tunes the rotor timing and is VERY IMPORTANT!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2d5aaeb8.jpg New ARP Pro Blower Gear Bolts!! Look for the timing marks on the gears, you can see the rotor timing here. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psbc694692.jpg New Coupler installed http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psd8a8a3b6.jpg |
And now the fun part :lolhit: polishing them back up....
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psd575e19b.jpg New Star Washers for the 8mm Pulleys my buddy machined for me!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps846cc093.jpg Bling Bling!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps716fc74f.jpg |
Both 420 Blowers are rebuilt and re-polished!!
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6e5ed2f0.jpg |
Did you make those spray bars? They spray down on the cam? That hatch bracket was a good idea.
|
They are the KE Spray Bars. They have 16 pin holes in the bottom of the bar that sprays a constant stream of oil on each of the lifters rollers.
The Machine Shop is machining the bolt holes and taping into the oil galley for an oil feed. Pretty simple deal to install. http://www.keitheickert.com/c-714-li...l-systems.aspx |
Mark great job on the blowers! What did you use to polish them? Wherdid you get the parts?

I bought all the blower parts from The Blower Shop. The bolts were custom ordered from ARP (Honestly they look like ARP Flywheel bolts with a little more thread 1/2 x 20... you could probably run a thread die down some flywheel bolts and save some $$). The Star washers came from Dan Neumann, he gets $20 a washer for them. http://www.danneumannracecars.com http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps116522d4.jpg |
your pm box is full :D
is there anything special you have to do when putting the new teflon strips in? I have a pair of BM 250's i was thinking of going through and that is the only thing i am un familiar with. I have all new bearings and seals, just need a few more things. |

I have all new bearings and seals, just need a few more things. You can shave them by hand with a long file.... Measure how tall your teflon is now (in the rotor) that will be real close to the spec your going to use. your looking for .005" clearance with the case. |
Went to the machine shop last night to get an update.....
My engines are at Fast Forward Marine/Race Engines and Joe Irwin there is awesome!! Anyways I took the engines to Joe to double check Nortech's (Daryl Hameetman) machine work becasue I was not liking the readings I was getting with my gauges.... Joe had to machine the spray bar and clean the blocks anyways.... Long story short we have to take the blocks to the next bore size.... I love spending money twice!! Plus I need a new crank... :angry-smiley-038: Hopefully the line hone job Daryl did is ok :lolhit: |

Got an update from the Joe Irwin at Fast Forward Marine/Race Engines today https://www.facebook.com/FastForwardRaceEngines
Machine work should be done at the end of the month!! We are on track to meet my end of April deadline!! Budget is getting extremely tight though :lolhit: imagine that :angry-smiley-038: Joe is going to tune the engines in the boat old school style! Dyno is not going to be in the budget.... I will gauge the HP by the mph in the boat; it ran a best ever 92mph with props spinning in. Props are spinning out now and best I have seen in flat lake water is 85 mph. |
mmb, Thanks for posting all the pictures of your project, It's been great following :Score-101010:
|
Awesome job your doing! Curious how you polished the intake valley and bottom end? Nice job on the blower rebuilds too makes me want to do mine how much do you have into bearings, seals, etc
|
Thanks Guys!!
Pokher Ace - I used the tootsie roll kit from summit and a die grinder http://www.summitracing.com/parts/su...FQ-xnQodomgAeQ The lifter valley is a long boring job and does not really do anything... It will help oil return back to the pan a little faster but... If you have some time to kill it is not hard. The bottom is pretty important to make sure you get any loose casting flash off the block, I have actually lost an engine from casting slag getting worked into the piston skirt causing that piston to overheat...... It was on a dyno, we notice the BSFC numbers shoot way up and stopped the pull instantly. When we tore it down that is what we found. Granted this was a 9000rpm aluminum rod race engine.... But I am anal about stuff like that especially since it has happened to me before. |

I will get rid of those ugly rims next year :lolhit: http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...pse3f1b83a.jpg |
Boy was helping out today!! Striped the paint off the oil pans so we can repaint them... Can't stand how everything on the engine was black.....
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps14b0b2b8.jpg Tyler polishing out the rest of the Aluminum!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps16c16d68.jpg Did a damn good job!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psb39b166d.jpg |

What blowers are you running? what snouts? Can you post detail pics of your blower pulley, and serpentine pulleys, and setup? Also, the blower belt tensioner?
I was looking over mine last night, I need to revamp some things and needed some ideas. Who makes a nice tensioner setup for the 420 Megablower??? Thanks. |
Nicely organized garage.
