Here some before and after pics of my 30' 2000 Mystique and it is the same boat and trailer. the story began 2 years ago, and started as a little repair here, and a touch up there, well we all know how that works out...It snowballed into a full resto, and some upgrades, on the boat, trailer, motors, and drives. the project is finally on the up hill swing, and starting to look like something again. Let me know what you think, and if you guys want to see more pics , I got 2500 pics of everything on this project, I did most of the work, from the paint work to logo layouts, made my own frame and windscreen, drives, motors, trailer redo, so if you want to see anything that might help you on your project let me know..... thanks for looking Joe

If you want to see some pics I'll post a few of the resto and a few of what I'm doing now....these pic here, are from the beginning, we painted this boat twice...Oh also let me say I only had this boat in the water once since I owned it and that was on the sea trial 2 years ago, again it was never suppose to turn into this huge project:lolhit:....We keep the first painting the same as when the factory painted it, but we had huge problems with the paint and clear, and also I didn't do the work that time, I was really tied up in my own shop, so I had a guy that use to work for me do it, well the old story goes if you what it done right do it yourself...Well it got sanded done again and we started over...The pics here are of the boat at the first painting and at time I started to do some work on the trailer, some of the step plates I had made, and what the motors looked like before and what they look like now.. I used a tan roloc disc to get any Knicks or scratches out that your fingernail could get caught in then I took sos pad wet and went over the aluminum, make sure you go in the same direction with the pad, than I buff it with heavy compound, and than buff it with mothers billet polish...and the pics you see there are what it looks likes a year and a half later that's how long ago I did it, now it hasn't been in the water, but I think it held up pretty good, now I just have to take some mothers over it again....here are some pics of what it looked like when I did it...

That trailer project looks like it took alot of beer to complete, I'ld be afraid to put it in the water!

Is a lot of beer a bad thing:evilb: it really wasn't that bad to polish and just did the outside of the rails only and painted the inside with silver paint, wasn't buying a new trailer, so one of my favorite things to do is, taking something looks like crap and making it look a whole lot better...I haven't polished the trailer in a year and half and it still look good, if you polish it and put a coat of wax on, it will stay that way for a while...

Thanks for all the compliments, keeps me motivated to keep going on, theres been a lot of set backs, I hate doing stuff over and over, but with a project this size it's inevitable your going to have to go over stuff, it's the I should know better stuff that gets me the most, my last stupid thing was with a 3M double sided foam pad, big set back because of that pad and me not paying attention to what's going on .....

J-Bonz 06-23-2013 10:48 PM

Awesome work! I am really digging it! Boat, trailer, all of it.

Thanks Casey, and Jbraun, j really like your Bullet, top notch...since everyone is saying about the trailer, here are a few pics of the upgrade on that....the boxes are $149 habor freight specials, I notch them out to fit over the rail of the trailer, it was pretty easy cut the box where it was going to sit on the rail, then took the piece I cut and flipped it upside down and welded it back in, had to put 2 little pieces in the corners, than sanded them and painted them the same white as the truck and painted the CIG logos on, in fact everything that was galvanized or painted on the trailer I painted white, I put a piece of diamond plate where the crank is at and on the lids of the boxes, so if you want to stand there or get on the deck, it's a little easier, the fender were $100 for the pair, welded some small angle on the underside of them for support, so you can stand on them if need, diamond plate on them also, made steps for the front and rear of the fender also gives support to the fenders, and made a bow catcher in stead of the old rollers...the only thing I want to make is a drive guard....well here are some pics of that stuff

Go ahead J that's why I posted it, if I can be any help let me know....going to try to finish painting the bilge today, that was the plan for yesterday, but storms kept popping up, using Sherman Williams paint and man that stuff is great, thanks Fixx for recommending it...

ItsPeanut 06-25-2013 11:41 AM

Love the paint on the boat. Very nice job on the trailer. Looks like you had to put more grunt work into the trailer than the boat. Well done.

She's running good so far, love the Whipple's, fire right up, idle at about 800, like a 525 around the dock and have a lot of pull when you get into it. I haven't had time to start dealing with props yet though, I'm under-proped though, currently have 16x25 4 blades and I think I need something like 17x28-30 or so...

Keep the pictures coming on your project!

It's been a few, since I posted, I'm waiting for the battery boxes so I can finish the bilge, also trying to find a dyno guy that does marine and efi in my area, but been working on a few other things, painted and modified my gauge panels, painted the bezels, removed the compass and added a garmin 640 GPS on the lower starboard side panel, finished mounting the gauges in the port side panel, still have the upper starboard panel to finish, also painted the breaker and cabin switch panels....today I was working on mounting everything on the outside of the transom, also polished all the stainless steel parts that go on the transom...Here's some before and after pics of the transom, and before and after polishing, and some of my little trim tabs... Worked on the windscreen today, mocking it up to see what hardware I need to get, I made the frame from scratch, the one lipship sell was for a topgun to big for this hull, the beam in this boat is 7'8" would have been to wide, then I made a templet for the windscreen and had a plastic shop in my area cut it for me, I think it came out nice, then I painted painted the frame yellow, I'm not going to mount it yet, I still have to wet sand and buff the deck...Here's some pics of the fab of the frame and what it will look like...

Thanks State, I think the dam thing is making me sick:lolhit: but each little project I finish and that moves it forward, makes me feel like it's getting some where. Still deciding whither or not to dyno the motors, got some paint work to do also, and interior work in the cabin, headliner...here are some pics of the bilge so far, waiting for some pieces so I can finish that...Joe
