Looks like duramax315 closed his twitter account. I went back in today to grab a couple more build pics but the account wasn't there. As I posted earlier I 've been screwed over the years on boat related transactions and this product has the potential to really screw some unsuspecting customer.

Interceptor , ICEDPPL posted the survey on the boat and certain people on this thread have gone out of there way to bash this kid . I dont know this kid and really dont care about him but if you have read the survey , accordingly it surveyed as an exceptional boat for its age . So my question is this . If the experienced surveyor tells the purchaser that the hull , drives and motors are in above average conition how is a potiently bad paint job considered the screw job of a life time( and at $ 30,000 priced at market for what it is ). It seems certain peoples opinions way more heavily than seasoned marine surveyors . If fact one of the nay sayers motors were so badly built they grendaed to point he said he would have to spend $ 10,000 to right the problem but not even one mention of this supposedly dead beat engine builder, some one we should all be warned about . I think its time to move on , I know I will be wary about posting any of my future projects in this site , really just wouldn't want the bull**** .God forbid I decided to sell my boat in the future and have to deal with these experts and their opinions.

Well since it's my engines your talking about go read the thread the hack builders name was posted, Neal Vance racing engines of West Virginia...

The survey says the boat is sold and runs, surveyors can care less about small details that make the boat finished or quality. He was there and reported all the issues and that add up.

So are you saying the pictures posted of this boat you would gladly pay 30,000 for it? Flaking paint, bondo, overspray all over, gauges don't work right... No cabin door, steering not working right, very corroded drives and tabs, rusty engines... Come on man get with it.... To me surveys are only for structure as anything visual and mechanical is left to the buyer to decide, I could have had a engine survey done in mine and you saw what happened, but they could have been running fine at time of survey.

If you think this boat has quality all over in and out I suggest you open your eyes more because the whole thing is hacked bad. A extremely rusty and dirty engines and bilge pic would have made me run personally that shows extreme lack of care for the boat. But I forgot he restored it... So shouldn't all that be spotless?

I hope one of the Phil lovers buy this boat I would love to see it a year from now with the extreme lack of paint prep, surveyors don't look at that or know about it they just see new paint.... There is many pics showing proof of the boat clearly not prepped properly yet you still support the job because a survey says the boat is decent. If the boat is so nice why is it not sold yet? Answer that...this pic should explain enough.... Shows extreme lack of prep paint should not peel off at all, let alone before it's even finished

Rick G 10-20-2014 02:44 PM

FF you posted one statement about your engine builder not 100 pages and he cost you REAL dollars . Second its presumptuous to think that the average boat pruchaser( especially one looking to move into the cigarette or or similar market ) is so stupid he wouldn't recognize shody workmanship when he sees it . The fact that the boat hasn't sold yet speaks to that point . I would guess that half of the cigarettes purchased by members on this site wouldn't have surveyed that well , ****ty paint and all , ask ICEDPLL . You guys have brought a new level of negativity to this forum and for that reason I will think twice about what I post here and I would council ICEDPPL and 88Bullet and Cig923 to do the same just to mention a few . Again just my opinion asI am not here to offend anyone .
RG.

Unlimited jd 10-20-2014 02:48 PM

Most surveyors, I'm guessing this one included look at cabin cruisers and sail boats mostly, so a fair to us go fast is exceptional compared to a similar year cabin cruiser that is acceptable. I am making this judgment based on the fact it says the power steering was not functional and they still went for a sea trial.

Full Force 10-20-2014 02:50 PM

I don't need 100 pages of bashing the engine builder that did them, nobody ever even heard of the guy and he's in the mountains of wv I don't think it's an issue....my buddy was told about him and got fukked so I am doing my own engines no big deal.
Besides the builder is not on here going "hey I'm gonna show you all my best work!!!" And he was not MY engine builder he was Dave's ...
My boat has a very good survey from 2009, was not in water again till I got it in 2012. So that's that.

As far as the other guys, they know the work is horrible but would never post it... Simple as that

SB 10-20-2014 02:52 PM

RickG - it's not as much abouth the boat, it's the Big Head "I Fully Restored It" , "I'm so good at what I do I've Opened My Own Boat Restoration Shop" and he made no gains on the old boat he bought, in fact he went backward.

No one ragged on the old owner and boat, just the current owner/boat.

Kinda like the kid with a ratty 5.0 Mustang who puts Flowmasters on and talks up the whole town/area about him having the fastest car around.

Not cool.

I think the Whole Restore and that Upstate is actually a real boat shop is the real clincher in the claims that could

A.Mislead someone to drive cross country to see this thing.

B. Lure some very very naive person in the boating world that only see's pretty red paint and hears the engines go VROOM VROOM and assumes because it was fully restored at a professional boat shop that the fuel tank and rigging is all up to the safe use that is required of it.

And to FULL FORCE I apologize for going VROOM VROOM because I know that makes your heart sigh for the days of old and did not use it too intentionally hurt you but simply to get my point across from here on out I will do my best to not do it

Rick,
My opinion on the boat is based on a significant amount of deception the seller is using. The boat is described by him as "Turn key" and "Restored". In both cases I'll disagree as there are a significant number of things wrong with the boat that suggest the seller isn't being truthful. He probably has seen the error in his marketing since he has lowered his asking price from 47K to 35k to 30K. I recently posted some pictures of his work from his Twitter account. Those pictures represent some questionable processes for a boat that again is marketed as "Restored" and "Turn key". Regarding the survey, I've never seen the complete survey and do not know who comissioned it. If I were looking at this boat another survey with me attending would be mandatory. I have never called the seller a name or slandered him.
Regarding your boat and workmanship. I think it is very well done.

It's really too bad this young man didn't approach this whole boat thingy a bit differently.
So much experience and willingness to share the collective knowledge here. A wee bit of humility and respect would have served him well.

Instead, we got turned off by youthful bravado and arrogance.

As for not posting personal projects for fear of having ones stuff picked apart, well, that certainly has not been my experience here. I consider myself very detail oriented and reasonably capable of most mechanical and paint and body work but, I know that I don't know jack compared to the majority of the membership here. I ask questions and value the responses given by the membership.

Again, it's really a shame that this young man doesn't recognize what a great bunch of guys and invaluable resource he's alienated with his attitude.

DuraDik thats too funny fits him well.

Look back through some of his other threads and comments he posted long before the original thread on this boat where he snakes it from fullwhack

Dragging his old posts up and reading through them the Kid has not a clue about most mechanicals on these boats and from the sound of it probably had never turned a wrench on anything but a Sears riding tractor to put a spark plug in it and a set of new blades.

You know you want to like the Kid because he is young and dumb but he is and has been such an azz to members that have been on this site along time and very helpful to anyone thats asks for help.

I agree. This is probably the only thread I know of, where other oso members have negatively criticized the project. There are so many talented guys on oso, who do some amazing stuff.

heck, check out Rbesola's thread on what he just did to his Myco trailer here in the Cig section. Rbesola isnt that much older than Phil. He's in his early 20's. Works his azz off. He bought an older top gun with 500's and TRS drives. Since he bought it, he has re-rigged the boat with SSM 4 drives, extension boxes, removed the engines, rebuild, added superchargers and some other goodies, custom hatch, lots of cool stuff. He took the boat to another level, running great speed numbers, and did it without the $hitty I know it all attitude.

I see no reason to defend Phil. Not only has he been a cocky little azzhole on oso, telling people how great he is, blah blah blah, is one thing. But doing stupid $hit, like towing other peoples boats without the right insurance, towing big boats with aluminum draw bars, no safety chains, no working lights, sub par lifted trucks, his illegal business operations, oh, and his latest from twitter, getting wasted drunk and driving around town and going offroading. Constant run in's with the police, getting 300 dollars worth of tickets by state troopers on his boat trailer for improper tags, lack of safety chains, inoperable lights, arrested for throwing $hit at passing by vehicles at 11:45pm including a police car, etc, Yea, great kid. Lets encourage his stupidity even further by defending him in this public forum.
