Very nice, great craftsmanship.
Thanks, lots of work working with Stainless. Tons of coolant machining because it likes to move/warp all over with heat and stress. Same with welding, patients is the game with this crap. Original owner had dual water pick-ups for each engine. One Clam Shell and one transom pick-up per engine. Jon |
Cougar, very nice, bravo.

Any updates on top speed of this boat?

5 blade 34s to big, it ran 270 miles last weekend running 4 blade, 34s. Tops out at 95, still looking for the right props. The 4 blades are fast but suck at cruise (3500). We don't run fast WFO, but cruise at 3500. Going back to turning in now. Looking for 5 blade 17.5 x 31 15 rake.100 miles back in the rain, 3-5 foot seas, dodging thunder storms. What a .Blast

The spacers were a waste of time, slowed down 5 with them.

Pulley change might be easier :D

MRP can reply, but when he got it, the Fives had 4 blade, 32 x 17 dia. They slipped a lot, 5600 and 5100 @86 mph.
Then we removed a T-shirt from between the carb adapter and blower! It picked up then then to 91. Added 5 blade herings and slip went down, added intercoolers and boost. Speed was then in low to mid 90s. But the cruise 3500 came up about 5 mph. Much more useful. We set our boats up for the best cruise, over top speed. We run long distances at 3500, and get better mileage than CCs, and we are running twice the speed. The Chiefs make 1000 each, on Tommys Dyno. Did the 5 blades change the vac/boost (motor load)at the 3500 compared to the 4 blades? say if you were running 10inchs of vac before at 3500 4 blades and with the 5 blades at 3500 had more load causing the vac decreased? Rob |
3500 is 3 lbs of boost, with the 4 blades.7 lbs at full throttle. The 34 5 blades are 5 lbs at 3500, and 6 at the stops.they are 2 inches higher and don't run much different.

if running more boost at the same rpm you would think it would burn more gas, but its covering more ground too....I guess the deference is in hulls,on my 30pt 4 blades i could ease up 4000 at 70mph and 0 on boost/vac gauge and 8.2psi max . maybe comparing bravos against #6 props would be diff? Ive got a buddy w/42 cig w/575 its running around 3psi around 3800-4000.thats were they run it all the time, rideing with him just seems to me thats straining the motors running it hard like that, but a 42 is a heavy boat sorry for ot Rob |
Great project. Well done
Dialing it in is the funnest part even with the frustrations Good luck Hope to see it in Key West NK |

90mph at 0 boost and 4800rpm? Damn..How light is a mystique!?.. my boost starts to build at 3700 .. @ 4800 I`m at 5psi.

I just saw a pig fly by.....................evidently 2500 lbs

Yeah! I can`t believe they`re going to take that pile of ugly junk and redo it all to new, what a bunch of jerks! Making a boat usable and saleable.....the nerve of some people.

Testing again Sunday, had a little setback. Lost a skeg, a big piece of skeg! Just got the drive back from Colabellas. It has a new out of the box lower. Now we have 4 sets of 5 blades sitting here waiting. I think we will get it this time.
On the boost? My cig is 2 lbs at 2800, 52 mph, 3 lbs at 3500, 62 mph. It's the large diameter props. I run 17.75 x32, 15 rake Mercury 1200s. Have no use for Herings, just a bad taste in my mouth. |

Here is the lower, and all the test props, big thanks to all that let us borrow.
|
We now have: 5 blades
17.5 X 29 18 x 30 17x 31 17.75x 32 17.5 x34 4 blade: 17.5 X 33 One of these should be close. We went back to inward rotation. |
Do you own all those props? I may be interested in a set in the near future...

At $10.5K a set you triple check the prop nut torque! :ernaehrung004: Keep the updates coming. Love this project!

It's a Twin Step, very slippery, 30 feet, 7500 lbs. 37 pitch 4 blades, Boost/Vac is ZERO @ 80 mph. Will build 7 lbs @ 5650 . It's incredibly efficient. FWIW, I have zero use for bogus data, just sharing real world experience here.

Dam shame , how fat boy looks, it was super clean before leaving the country. That's 3 really nice boats that I believe the same guy has trashed.
|
Maybe that's his "thing"? Oh well, to each their own, at least he's enjoying the boat.

[QUOTE=Zero Patience;4359049]MPR purchased the drives from an OSO member. The drives were black paint from top to bottom. When we stripped the paint off the lowers we found the repair. The seller did not mention that during the purchase. The piece broke out in the rough water run from Sanabel to Tampa. MRP did not want to repair it so I located a new one at a fair price. I know who we would never buy from again on OSO.[/QUOTE
That stinks... |

I'm the one who the drives were bought from and I did not hide anything. I did not know that they had been repaired either. Notice where you wrote, "when we stripped the paint off the lowers." Well I never stripped the paint off the lowers, so how was I supposed to know they had been repaired??
