speaking of, and sorry to derail, but how are the 6’s coming along? I was hoping to have them before I have to take the boat to get the transom done. I wanted to mock them up because I have no idea wtf I`m doing when switching, I`m a visual person so.. They are still in Florida, my chance to have someone throw em on a truck fell thru and the seller has not had a chance to put em on a skid and get em ready for shipping . If you see just the drives for sale do not be alarmed, I found a set locally that are a wet set , brand new in the box from Mercury , i`d like to sell the ones I bought and pick up the brand new set for a few bucks more .We will see if that pans out . Thanx for asking |

I'm sure you know this but you will pick up about 4-5 mph with the dry sumps vs the wet sump on most hulls, not sure on a straight gun. I think half of that is due to the better skeg design on the dry sump. Plus some of the parts inside the wet drives are getting hard to find if needed. Personally I'd stick with the newer dry sump drives, unless they have a lot of hours on them and need to be rebuilt.

I`ll have to disagree on that.
If I can quote Dan (Team Archer) ' you`ll see a gain on a cat maybe but on a heavy V bottom irrelevant. Dry if the pump takes a dump the entire drive is done, also no lubrication in reverse, also not really "dry" since the bottom half houses the pump and oil. I prefer wet sump. |
On the bad ass work - I too find this to be the single most interesting thread here... I must have missed the pictures. Keep the you tube videos coming too. I love seeing people do what I just don't have the balls to try. Your work is awesome, apparently there are some haters out there that need to be ignored!! Keep the pictures, videos and updates coming.

Of course I am not telling you any of this:) |
