I'm going document as much as I can I put this boat together and ran it for 3 seasons xt did a great job on the interior and cabin. just realized in the end of July the transom is rotted as we had a water leak. so on to winter projects just getting a early start lol. I had all the new billet handles made when we did interior and try to update as much as we could with modern power plants and keep it reliable. boat ran a best of 83.3 this year its a light lay up boat and motors have had a few things done to them. let the projects begin...…...

CigaretteSam 09-05-2018 09:32 PM

Boat looks great! I like the paint...classy!

ROB FREEMAN 09-05-2018 09:34 PM

division1 09-05-2018 09:46 PM

thanks its koolaids man old boat I really liked the classic paint job to. I was able to do some updating and make it work with the paint job. hoping to be done early this year with projects and maybe hit the water on time for once always seems to be late June by the time were ready every season so I was hoping if I started early id make it next season lol

thisistank 09-06-2018 11:09 AM

That things beautiful. Nice set up too. Bullet proof.

how far into the gunnals did you have to go with the transom replacement?

division1 09-06-2018 06:51 PM

I’m doing a complete transom I’ll post some more pics tonight

Half ground clean. Takes a lot longer that I thought it would lol

Got Cigs 09-09-2018 01:26 PM

Sweet update on an old school boat. Hope your project goes smooth. Are you going to raise the "X" at all while you're in there?

ROB FREEMAN 09-10-2018 04:12 PM

why you fill yore transom with rocks ? lmao good luck

division1 09-11-2018 09:10 PM

No boat ran real solid and has the shortie lowers on it already runs a 5 blade prop real well I’ll prolly leave well enough alone lol

frickstyle 09-12-2018 09:32 AM

Your boat does run well, ran with you back from PIB, sounds good too.

division1 09-12-2018 09:46 AM

Thanks that’s was a nice run that day !!

division1 09-20-2018 06:44 PM

Ok guys looking for input I have the 575 motors I bought them as a running take out package ran great for 2 seasons . Doing basic tune up this year they have the smaller pulley and a tune in them already they run very strong. We’re checking to see if someone put roller cans in there along the way I was going to have the blowers rebuilt this winter heard there a weak point. What do you guys think rebuild them or sell them and do the 8-71 conversation. Do you think the 8-71 would add more power ? At least a difference that we would noticed ?

Griff 09-20-2018 07:29 PM

The 871's will make a significant difference. There are also issues with TBI system being restrictive. Check out Eddie Young's injection upgrade package.
The ECM's would also need reprogrammed again.

division1 09-20-2018 08:59 PM

Ok thanks!! I read that the fuel is good to about 700hp ? Not trying to get to crazy just done maintenance. I know the blower that they come with is a bit small. I’ll give him a call thanks again !

Quinlan 09-21-2018 06:00 AM

Have head gaskets been done? They are notorious for failing.

Full Force 09-21-2018 03:16 PM

Fun times Eric!! that hatch was fun for us to get off too...

going to be nice when done, as far as engines one thing I learned is keep it simple and reliable, Konrads to 750HP should be good, I know they say more but I think that's safe zone for them when I talked to guys.

I was super bummed I missed out on that boat years ago, I always loved it!

division1 09-21-2018 10:21 PM

Agree with simple. Has anyone used that new injection system on there 575s on here ? I did talk to Eddie today for some time I have my blowers off we’re just going to have those rebuilt. Moters have flat rap cam still so we’re going to do roller cams and a head surface and valve job. I’m considering the new injection due to the throttle bodies having a reputation for sticking and washing cylinders. I’d be curious to hear feedback on if anyone is running them and how they like them

division1 09-26-2018 08:57 PM

We are leaning towards the new injection and the roller cams from Eddie. With quick valve job and surface. So basically the top ends. Any thoughts ?

cigrocket 09-26-2018 09:12 PM

Eddie is Top Notch. I had an Awesome experience! Delivered what he said he would do....no bullsh*t

Full Force 09-27-2018 04:07 PM

Eddie won't steer you wrong, I never heard one bad thing ever...

division1 09-27-2018 06:24 PM

Great!!! Moving forward !!

Got sick of tripping over drives built some stands in between hours of grinding this weekend on transom

Full Force 10-01-2018 05:00 AM

Add wheels now lol

frickstyle 10-01-2018 09:52 AM

Nice! Got any room to store another boat over the winter???

division1 10-01-2018 08:10 PM

division1 10-01-2018 08:12 PM

Well as it snowballs i decided to replace the lower portion and step as well spent 6 hours digging all that out figured Mia we’ll do it know. This is the point in the project that you ask yourself if it will ever float again......

division1 10-01-2018 08:14 PM

Frick you need storage ? I can prolly get in the barn. We do not do ANY grinding or painting inside so it will stay clean

Full Force 10-02-2018 05:10 AM

Looks like fun! I see some beers this winter in our buildings lol

Is it heated? Let me know pricing, I'll PM you my cell#

Got Cigs 10-03-2018 09:59 AM

God damn that makes me cringe and its not even my boat.... god bless you for having the desire and patience.

division1 10-03-2018 06:52 PM

It’s not to bad sounds crazy but I enjoy working on it not so much the grinding I spend another 2 hours on it today. Made a trip to Glass Dave shop with it so he could make sure I was heading in the correct direction lol. I picked up all the glass and should be making patterns this weekend and put the transom together. I want to get the glass work done so I can get it clean and get it back in the shop (won’t do any grinding inside) and start slowly rigging. I ordered all the led indicators today and senders to make all that work no more cables. Moters are getting Eddie young injection and full rollers also doing some cabin customizing as well but I’ll wait till later to go into deatial on that lol

After a lot of hours of grinding I’m ready to pattern all 3 pieces this weekend and start putting back together. Dig a quick knock down on the bilge with a 7inch 36 grit disk I’ll go over it with 80 grit on a da sander before I applied a high build primer and get ready for new bilge paint.

Ha some small stress cracking on bottom of door. Ground that out front and back. I’m going to use a few layers of glass behind to build it up. Figured why not fix that as well considering it’s gettinf all new roller door tracks etc
