The Virgin Gladiator F-2 boat was the first or second Gladiator hull ever made. There is a very strong possibility that the later hulls ('02+) could have been different or tweaked a bit. One thing is for sure - my '02 Gladiator is FAR more stable at high speeds than my '00 F-2 Top Gun was. The F-2 Top Gun - because it was setup to be a race boat - was fast but less stable at high speeds. It was definately MORE to handle when running hard.

Also, the Gladiator has it's own mold. If the Gun and Glad were the same, this would make little sense.

and if Neil says they are different, that is the gospel.
That would make scents with
Gladiator is 36'11" overall length
Top Gun is 37'6" overall length

PS I am doing the Thursday departure also see you soon

Yes,but dont forget, both the topgun and the gladiator are seamed together where the deck meets the hull. When the gladiator first came about,it was a cut down version of the topgun. It would make perfect sense to use the same bottom with a different deck. The outerlimits 37 gtx and stilletto share the same bottom as well. And,if you look at the length of the gladiator vs the topgun,it could definitely be a shorter version of the same hull.Tomorrow,I will call Myco, they should be able to tell if the bottoms are the same or not.

I believe it was more than just cutdown ... the crease in the side of the hull is still proportionately correct.

The same bottom ?

Gary, Actually it is not. That is one of the things we were looking out when our Gun was sitting next to the Gladiators. The "crease" on the Gladiator is closer to the deck than it is on the Gun. This also leads me to believe the bottom is the same. If they built another bottom why would they not have centered the "crease"?

Our gun...

It is easier to see in person but if you follow the crease towards the bow you can see it gets closer to the deck on the Gladiator than it does on the Gun. From the crease down it looks the same.

Funny thing is - Gary and I keep our boats at a dry rack storage right next to each other - literally three feet apart. We need to go down there this weekend and take some pics and measurements. We'll know for sure then!

I can't believe anyone would argue what Neill has told them about the construction of any Cigarette. This website amazes me at times.

I guess it is one of those things you really don't think about till you look at the boats next to each other and compare. Semper Fi and I spent about 30 minutes in havasu comparing the three boats and that's when we noticed the difference with the crease. It took a while to notice though.

Not argueing just pointing out some of the things I have noticed. Just makes you wonder why they did not change some things if they built a whole new bottom. Maybe they just tweaked the bottom from the Gun?

I used to own DCB cats before the Gun and watched the process they went throught to make molds with having to build plugs. I know how expensive and time consuming it is to do. It would make alot more sense to take a bottom you already have and then make changes to it. Much easier than starting from scratch.
