Re: Old Offshore Buried Treasure found !!!
It's fantastic isn't it?? Just think if the sport didn't have a John Crouse around to keep records of all the happenings for years and years, most of this stuff would be lost.
VERY IMPORTANT NEWS......As these books were sealed in plastic at the publishers and then sealed in the shipping cardboard box in 1989....they have never been opened.
Some buyers have said that when they unsealed everything, some of the pages were stuck together...They used a butter knife and SLOWLY and gently, PUT THE KNIFE BETWEEN THE STUCK PAGES AND MOVED IT UP.
They came apart with no problem at all. Several people have told us that slowly is the key word here.
Enjoy!!

Re: Old Offshore Buried Treasure found !!!
I was down visiting John Crouse a couple of weeks ago and he again donated another box full of photos to HORBA........but while digging around, we came upon 100 copies of SEARACE....the big book on Offshore racing that John wrote in 1989.
The books were sealed airtight in plastic and then boxed up in shipping cartons in 1989....and have not seen the light of day since.
We have put them up for sale on the HORBA website for the original price of $69.95 that they sold for in 1989.
Get a real piece of history in the original wrapper at:

Re: Old Offshore Buried Treasure found !!!
There is shipment of approx 15 books that are scheduled to go out the first of next week.
We have changed to a new shipper as a lot of orders were getting t-shirts too...... and this new co can handle both.
We have been getting feedback from some people who have the books already and one gave us a great idea on how to open the pages if they stick....he said he took a few pages at a time and fanned them....bent them over from the end of the page down to the binding....he then used the butter knife and slid it between any pages that still stuck. He said just a few pages at a time works best.
Remember these books were sealed in airtight plastic in 1989 and then sealed in cardboard shipping boxes.
That is a long time to be airtight.
Another buyer took his dustcover off and found a white residue on part of the hard green cover....this is from the inside of the paper dustcover...he used a cloth with a light spray of Armor-all......gently wiping the hardcover.... and the cover looks better than new.
We also have some buyers who say they got so caught up reading the book and looking at all the great photos, they called into work and took a sick day......we are not responsible for this effect on you!!!
Remember this is a 646 page book, loaded with the history of the sport.
