Not to much of an update this weekend. Spent about 6 hrs grinding away. Im unfortunately going to recore the last 5 ft of the boat before much else. I will have to at least have the transom in before that so I actually have something holding it together. I also added a "temporary" transom. After grinding/sanding the transom it's barely 1/8" thick and started to get wavy. I had a few sheets of 4x8 azek? (plastic wood) that I mounted to hold everything in place. Hopefully my tent holds up so I can work in the rain.

In case anyone was curious, the transom was 3 layers of 1/2 balsa, the sides are 1 and the bottom/tunnel is 2 layers... This is deff going to suck!!

Are you going to use balsa again or foam or what? Keep up the good work!

Most likely balsa. I'm not 100% convinced with foam.

Not mine but close. Mine is still local to me. They are great boats though. Mine was 003 in 1988. I think pullmytrigger has 002

It still may be beyond repair:eek:, but I'm trying. As long as I can find some balsa, I should have the transom at least tabbed back in this weekend. With any luck I'll see you on the lake this summer.

you going to run the big V8's that where on it?

prostock85 11-16-2011 05:07 PM

For the time being. For 3g's a piece I'm told Montyracing.com can make them a reliable 400 hp+. Obviously at that point I'm going to have to do the sportmaster lowers. I obviously would rather have a set of 300 mercs but first I have to worry about finishing the boat. Just got pricing on Bobs extreme jackplates... $1035 a side.
